New Toho Godzilla Series after Legendary

One thing I'm wondering, will Toho use Legendary's design for Godzilla, or will they come up with their own? What do you all think...

There is probably some legal reason they can't use the Legendary design.
It's also how Toho has done things in the past.
They changed the suit design in '84 and again in '99.
I think they'll come up with something new in 2016.

Yeah, hopefully Toho adds the gills because it just makes SENSE for Godzilla to have them. Though, I hope they don't mention them like in the LP Godzilla film.

Other than that, I want the design to be different. Leave those bronto feet to LP.

I'm hoping for new characters and monsters and a more original plot. Something besides, Godzilla comes, destroys city, leaves.

Something more like Godzilla awakens, reason, side story, Godzilla deals with reason/reason deals with Godzilla, side story finished, Godzilla leaves for reason.

The Zero Fighter trailer makes we wonder... side story to the 1954 film following a Tokyo family during Godzilla's 1954 attack? It would combine new footage, CGI, footage from the original film, stock footage from that era. Most of the film would look modern, but maybe certain sections of the films go entirely into the style of the time: black and white, grainy, scratches - old and new footage artificially aged, of course. I even have a title: Gojira 1954.


Of course, this idea is more of a 'one-off' film, not exactly conducive to starting a new series.

Rather selfishly, I love the idea of the '54 design replacing he Heisei one as Toho's trademark Godzilla image.

There has never been confirmation that Godzilla has gills. As far as anyone can say with any certainty is that it APPEARS as if he has gills. As far as anyone knows for sure, those are SCALES that only LOOK like gills but nothing in the film or press said those were actual functioning gills. All that was fan hoopla.

And the statement was? This one I intend to follow up on as no determination was ever concluded during all the discussion whether those are scales or actual functioning gills. I never heard them once officially referred to as gills by Edwards or anyone else involved.
