I decided to just relax and do nothing but play a nice old fun video game today. I 100%ed Mario World on the Wii U's Virtual Console today.

I've been playing a lot of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on my 3DS lately. I mean a lot. I have it for the Wii U as well if I want to venture online and what not. I've mostly stayed soloing Village quests, I'm almost done with all the low grade quests. I could probably push onwards but I want to get a full set of Lagiacrus armor and upgrade a few weapons.

But on a whim I bought the digital version of Fantasy Life and have been having a hard time putting that down. It's like an MMO but you can change classes and crafting abilities almost at will and with less of a grind. I'm not too far into it but it's a nice light RPG. It's kind of addicting. I probably should have waited until after I finished my class to buy it.

I beat Alien Isolation. I thought it was a fun game wish it was a little shorter but oh well.

I started Fantasy Life too on the 3DS and it's freaking amazing. Going to be playing that until next week when Halo MCC comes out for the Xbox One. Then I'll be spending my time between Halo and Dragon Age.

My brother bought me Payday 2 for the xbox 360 for my birthday because he was looking for a co-op game for us to play. He bought it at the perfect time too since it seems upon research that they finally very recently updated it to where the ps3 version has been for a long time. So my gaming lately has been pretty confined to robbing banks and planning heists. The game is kind of simple at its core, but addictive too, the combination of each being the hook.

Also bought Defiance for the 360 new for 10 bucks at a store today that had it on a clearance rack. Was always curious about the title, but didn't realize that the damn game is an install only and its a GIANT install. Once that's installed, you have to let the game patch itself, which I've been doing for quite a while now. Its pretty ridiculous. If I had known this was an install only game, let alone the giant required patches, I definitely would have left it on the rack. I'm not even sure I'll be able to play it tonight.

I just beat Halo last night from the Halo MCC for the first time in over 10 years I remembered why I always played the game in co-op the game can be quite difficult in times. Now I'm going to play through Halo 2 then after that start GTA V on Xbox One.

So I kiiiinda just bought a 3DS a few weeks ago, along with A Link Between Worlds and Resident Evil: Revelations.

Link Between Worlds is fantastic in its simplicity. It's not groundbreaking but it's definitely Zelda. Washes out the bad taste left by Skyward Sword.

In my sudden rekindled interest in video games, I've become intrigued by Persona Q (never played the others; I just thought the art style was cute), and to test out the gameplay, I downloaded the demo of Etrian Odyssey IV (which has identical gameplay). Not a big fan of turn-based stuff, but it definitely draws you in. I'm almost afraid it will distract me from Zelda. :O So little time...

Hunt down the circle pad pro for the 3DS it'll make Revealtions a lot easier to play. If you bought a normal 3DS you'll probably have to find a used one at a gamestore or ebay but if you have the 3DS XL then you can buy the circle pad pro directly from Nintendo for like $20.

I just finished Halo and Halo 2 in the Halo Master Chief Collection, now I'm working on GTA V on Xbox One. I got to where I left off on the 360 version last night.

Saying Skyward Sword was bad is like saying Star Wars is bad.

Meh. There are positive points to Skyward Sword.... Zelda does finally have some character to her, the motion controls are actually fun, and, though I haven't finished it, I hear the story is really engrossing (of course, so was TP's.) But honestly, this is the first Zelda game where I had to force myself to keep playing. And then I stopped caring. Having a nearly-empty sky for an overworld, a cramped and miniscule town for the central location, and disconnected Super Mario 64 levels instead of an organic-feeling environment, coupled with the ridiculous amount of hand-holding, make this the worst of the worst for me.

I think critics rated it so high just because it's Zelda.

I hardly ever finish Zelda games the first time through. I start them but never finish then several years down the line I'll go back and play through them. Hell it took me about 20 years to finish off the first Zelda game finally. I think Twilight Princess was the only Zelda game I finished with out restarting mainly because that's the only game I had on my Wii besides Wii Sports to play and as we all know Wii Sports is only good in short bursts or with friends/family.

Sometime soon I want to go through the entire Zelda series start to finish maybe taking a break between every three games or so.

Don't feel bad. Link to the Past was my first one, and I've never beaten it.

I didn't beat Link's Awakening until I picked it up and replayed it from the beginning as a teen.

Ocarina of Time I "took a break" at the Water Temple and didn't come back for a year or so.

I still haven't beaten Link to the Past yet or Zelda II.

OOT I finally finished when it got reissued on the 3DS. I have yet to play touch Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons I have them on my 3DS though so yeah I have a lot to do for Zelda.

Hell, I haven't even played Zelda II. I've barely played the first one (now with Virtual Console, I plan to fix that). I barely touched the Oracle games (though I do own Ages and have played to the first dungeon long ago), and I missed the boat on the Game Boy Advance and regular DS games.

The horrible thing for me to admit, though? I've never completed Majora's Mask. I don't know why I never ended up owning it... I rented it a few times, loved what I played through, and then the place I rented from went out of business. I was this close to buying a used N64 cart until, lo and behold, I find it's being remade for the 3DS. Perfect timing on my part.

I never had a N64 so I never played Majora's Mask. Can't wait to get the 3DS reissue/remake.

Twilight Princess was the first Zelda game I ever beat. The first game I played was ALttP, but my SNES erased my data when I was halfway through so I never bothered to replay it. I could never even get to the first dungeon in the original game and I hate the second game to death.

TP was amazing though, and then I got OoT for the 3DS and my god it was incredible. After OoT, I have now gone through ALttP, Minish Cap, ALBW, SS, Wind Waker, and Phantom Hourglass. In fact, once I finish up with GTAV, I think I might replay OoT as I have been itching to play it again. I absolutely loved the Water Temple as it made you think and was a big puzzle. Easily the best dungeon in the game followed by the Shadow Temple. I also have the two Oracle games to play.

Anyway, I will say this, OoT, ALBW, and WWHD have spoiled me on having a touch screen controller for the menu selection to the point that it is hard to play any Zelda game without it.

Wind Waker is by far my second favorite Zelda game. When I first played it on the GC in 2011 I was just blown away by how much fun I was having. Well, at least until I started that stupid god damn piece of crap annoying as **** Triforce quest. That took a great chunk of fun out of the game. However, OMGTHEHDVERSIONFIXEDTHATANDITISAMAZING!!!

Seconded along with the Triforce fetch-quest. Fetch quests are never fun. Other than that, I adored the art style and there was a real awesome sense of coming-of-age adventure that is requisite for any Zelda. Only letdown was that once the sea opened up to you, you found that it was systematically inhabited by pathetic rocks ("islands") for every few grids. Still, it had its magic.

Plus,

Twilight Princess, however, fully enveloped me in its story and its environment. I've never been more in love with a Zelda game.

Continuing onward in Link Between Worlds, the game has managed to elicit an emotional response from me.

You can bet your ass I was storming Hyrule castle like a vengeful warrior god after that.
