Halloween Movie marathon.

Nightmare on Elm St 2: Freddy's Revenge - The makes of this movie didn't get the whole "dream killer" aspect. But this is an unintentionally hilarious movie. Not a great movie itself but an interesting watch.

Fright Night 2 - Has a severe case of sequelitis but some fun things, like vampire bowling and roller skater vampire. Brian Thompson is menacing as a vampy Renfield with an entomology degree.

Night of the Living Dead - Rifftrax version. My girlfriend wanted to watch some more rifftrax and wanted to see NotLD as well. Best of both worlds. And man does this movie have a slow start. The last half of the movie is great but it's just a real slow start and Barbra's lack of dialogue throughout the entire movie didn't help. Still a classic and shows that the stereotypical Romero zombies were more than just brainless shambling creatures, they had fear and used tools.

We also "watched" House on Haunted Hill rifftrax version. Other things popped up, had to give a friend ride home and stuff, as this was on so I wouldn't say that we fully watched it.

Lone Survivor - a well produced film but it overdoes a few scenes. It is still a sad, touching film since it is based on real events (and even uses real photographs of the people involved). I'd recommend it, but expect some over the top action.

Ghost in the Shell Arise 1 and 2 - The dub of this is quite good, but I am really having a hard time adjusting to a few of the new voices, specifically Togusa, Aramaki, and Ishikawa. I do miss Epcar as Batou, but Sabat did a good enough job to mimic the new Japanese voice. Also, this is my fourth time seeing the first episode and I think I am finally understanding the plot to it. :lol

DBZ Battle of Gods - This movie was awesome in theaters, it is just as awesome on video, especially with the extra footage. The new scene with Whis opening a hole in the window to ask 18 about ice cream was freaking hilarious as was the added backstory to Pilaf and the Rock Paper Scissors challenge to Oolong. Still a nice big 8/10.

Robocop

Huh, you know, when I was a teenager I thought this was a very funny film, but now it seems like an eerily plausible horror film. The influence of corporations, having your free will taken away and becoming a product... it's thoroughly creepy.

Young Frankenstein

Too loving to be a parody. I think "pastiche" is more appropriate.

I was a Young Frankenstein WELL before I had ever seen any of the Universal films...and I remember ultimately being FLOORED by how much of Young Frankenstein feels exactly like them when I finally started watching them.

Interstellar - If you want to see a movie that has phenomenal acting, great visuals, but an overstuffed, convoluted plot, with some of the worst sound mixing ever, this movie is for you. There is so much greatness here, that its negatives ultimately sour the experience, causing it to be one of Nolan's weakest films ever. Thankfully it is no where near as bad as Insomnia, but it is almost on the same level as The Dark Knight Rises when it comes to disappointment. There was no need for this movie to be 3 hours long, in fact, it would have been fine right at 2. I just don't understand why these filmmakers these days seem to think they have to make their movies as long as possible when the movie clearly feels bloated just to increase the running time. Visually, the movie is stunning. However, it tends to spend a lot of time shoving the same side shots of the space ship down our throats to the point that those shots no longer look appealing after two hours. Regardless, the biggest atrocity this movie holds is in the sound mixing department. The music is so overbearing and loud that it muddles out a lot of the dialog and sound effects. In fact, this is another issue The Dark Knight Rises suffered from and I do not understand why WB feels the need to do this on a constant basis. Overall, I can not go into any more detail without spoilers, but I will say this, TARS was the best character in the movie and he was a freaking robot. I am not sure what I exactly want to give this movie, so I'm going to just say it is somewhere between a 6-7/10 stars.

The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug EE. Pretty decent though I really couldn't pick out stuff that was new other than the extended Mirkwood sequence. Looking forward to the third film next month.

Street Fighter: Assassins Fist: THIS is how you should do a Street Fighter live action movie!
Though it did seem rather long for a movie, so maybe it was a mini-series.
Anyhow tells about Ken & Ryu when they were young & still training.
Good action, some drama, decent looking effects for the attacks (yes they do them), and of course a bit of comedy.
Even a brief mention of Dan.
Make sure to watch after the credits!

Also watched The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition.
The extra scenes seemed to make it flow smoother.
The ones I noticed were (Spoilers):
Toho's Godzilla Will Live Forever!

The Rock's Hercules movie was really not good, just in case anybody was wondering.

I'm sure there will be Rock denouncers out there who will just scoff and say, "Yeah. It's The Rock. DUH" but I genuinely think he has charisma and I rarely think his movies fail because of him. This is another such case. The Rock is fine. The MOVIE is wrong.

Hercules isn't a demigod, it's ALL lies. He's just a strong human with lots of friends and tricks that help him LOOK invincible. That's bad enough but honestly, WORSE is that they don't do ANYTHING with the notion that he's just a human being. He has no real faults (yeah, he's a "mercenary" but it never really gets in the way of him doing what's right), he performs feats of superhuman strength and he's never made to look weak or anything less than god-like....so why not just have him BE a demigod and instead of all this nonsense about trickery and makeup he can ACTUALLY be fighting an army of demons and centaurs?!?!

Blah.

I actually had a slimmer of hope for Rock's Hercules movie, but then I found out it wasn't actually on his labors as the initial trailer portrayed and was just a generic end of the world prevention story.

Disney's Tarzan - Picked up the Blu-Ray a few days ago. This one holds up pretty well, all things considered. The animation is really good (barring a few conspicuous CGI moments), things move along pretty nicely, and the characters are entertaining. Rosie O'Donnell is, to my surprise, not all that annoying as Terk. Tantor, Tarzan's elephant companion, is actually worse in that respect. But my only real complaints concern the "trashing the camp" sequence, which is grating and overlong, and Tarzan's being restrained and sucker-punched by a couple of Clayton's goons. The dude knifes a freaking leopard to death, and wrestles a giant gorilla into submission, but can't handle two random dudes? Not really buying it. Still, I quite like the movie.

The Rebirth of Mothra - I'm not going to spend too much time on this movie because it just flat out sucked!! The effects was some of the worst (especially the CGI) ever, the plot was crap, the characters were as flat as their acting, but worst of all, the movie was just flat out boring. Nothing even happens until an hour into the movie, making this one of the worst Toho Kaiju movies I have ever seen. It can only go up from here, right? I give it a 3/10.

Mothra II - Oh my god. So we have three annoying kids being chased by two adults for a Furby while a Zelda dungeon boss plays lazertag with Mothra. And in the midst of it all is a poor innocent lost level to Donkey Kong Country with every cliche temple gimmick imaginable. Can this movie get any more dumb? Oh yeah, and jesus, Sony can not even stay consistent with their subs in the same movie trilogy as Mona is not Moll. WTF people?! I'm giving this pile of **** a 2/10 stars.

Mothra III - Wow, just wow. Either this movie is really good because of how bad the previous two entries were, or it is just really good. The effects were a really big step up from the last two movies, even thought the CGI tentacle porn moments were still pretty bad. Other than that though, the effects were pretty good. King Ghidorah's design here is just down right incredible. I would love to own a MonsterArt of it as his horn are down right badass. On the other hand, I did not like how they just turned him into a Sunday morning Sentai villain. Mothra's main design was fine but hot damn the version of her at the end of the movie was pretty awesome looking. I love the wings on her. The plot itself was average though, but that is still a step up from what I was coming to expect out of these movie, so I'll give it some leeway even if it did rip off the Triforce a bit. I'm wondering if the tail that was sliced off Ghidorah in the past was what spawned DesiGhidorah though. Meh, whatever. THe movie was pretty good and the fairies were not annoying at all (especially Belvedere as I did not want to just strangle her this time). Overall, I give it a 6/10.

Addams Family Values - My mind waffles about on whether it's as good as the first or not. It's very fast paced compared to the first. I feel it lost a bit of the dark charm that the first one did, as the sets inside the Addams House is rather bare. I mean here is and here it is in the . I sort of get it thought, unlike the first it doesn't take place mostly in the house so obviously they cut back on those sets. But for the lack of the house, we get Wednesday at summer camp causing complete chaos, so it evens out. And I was crushing on her hard as a kid because of this movie. All in all, I think at this moment I'll say it's not quite as good as the first but still pretty great.
