I like Howling 3 in the same way I like Nightmare on Elm Street 2 (except I actually enjoy Marsupials a fair amount more):
I just find them FASCINATING...in such a "What the HELL?!?!?!" way that I can't turn away from the screen.

I bought this Howling "Trilogy" Blu-ray that had Marsupials, Freaks, and either 4 or 5 on it...PURELY for Marsupials and because it was only $3...and then the damned movie was CROPPED to 4:3! UGH. So disappointing. It was the only one I wanted, and for $3 I was all giddy, and then..I had my eyes pooped on.
Gills.

Life has prevented any and all Halloween festivities for the most part, but I managed to watch the Universal Dracula last night. I feel as though I'm gonna just watch a few favorites and focus mostly Universal stuff.

I'll start watching some horror movies and thrillers near the end of the month. I have quite a few in my Netflix queue:

Pet Semetary
The Mist
1408
Sleepy Hollow
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark
Suspect Zero
Frailty
The Prophecy
The ABCs of Death
Predators
Rob Zombie's Halloween
The Devil's Rejects
Blue Velvet

I also still need to watch Black Swan, which I've had on DVD for a while.

I watched the next 5 episodes to Tales from the Crypt S7 and I have come to the realization that Season 7 is just not that good. There are a couple of good episodes in the season, but as a whole, the season blows. Also, I have finished the original Halloween universe, so now all I have left are the terrible Zombie movies. I hope the third time is the charm for his first one.

RIPD, I thought it was great although a quarter of the lines were gargled so I could barely make out what was being said.

Man, I haven't seen Hocus Pocus in ages. How does that one hold up?

Finished everything but the Zombremakes of Halloween. Also finished Tales from the Crypt Season 7, watched a few more Tree House of Horrors, and started playing Alien Isolation.

Tonight we are seeing Creature from the Black Lagoon at the Alamo Drafthouse in 3D. Also, unless she is charging way too much for autographs, I am going to try to get Julie Adams to sign my UCM BD set. Oh, and I am thinking about picking up the Friday the 13th BD set since it is on sale today at Best Buy for $80.

I got Julie Adams' (and Ricou Browning's - the man in the suit underwater) autograph at Monsterpalooza in LA a few years ago. She was super nice and very gracious to have enthusiastic fans. I don't remember how much it was but I'm rarely willing to pay more than $30 or $40 for an autographed 8x10 (total price for the picture and autograph) so I can't imagine she was charging much.

Got these:

Also, we just got back from spending the last few hours at the Alamo Drafthouse for the Mile High Horror Festival. It was an interesting experience and we got to talk to a few people like Gunnar (Leatherface in the original TCM), Julia Adams from Creature from the Black Lagoon, Jeffrey Reddick (Final Destination writer/director), and while I did not get to talk to the at all, I also got to see Tony Todd and Michael Berryman.

I did take some pictures:

Slideshow that has everything I took: http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/DrKai ... val%202014

Some highlights:

Us with Jeffrey Reddick:

Julia Adams autographs:

Also, here is what I recorded this that was going on during the pre show of Creature from the Black Lagoon:

Speaking of which:

Creature from the Black Lagoon 3D - This is absolutely one of my favorite Universal monster movies of all time and getting to see it in 3D was down right phenomenal. The opening bit when they first find the fossilized Gill Man arm was nothing short of stellar and the 3D as a whole puts most of the movies done today to shame. There were some moments where the screen did seem to get blurry during fast motions, but aside from that, it was wonderful. The movie is amazing. The Gill Man is amazing. And getting to meet the actress from it was awesome. Overall, I give this movie a nice big 9/10 stars.

On Sunday I watched Dracula Untold, I am probably the only person at my theater that did not make Castlevania connections (even one of my managers who watched it one row below me made some).

I must be one of the only people on Earth who thinks Bride of Frankenstein isn't great. I DEFINITELY like the original and Son of Frankenstein better.

Earlier I finished the Syfy original House of Bones. Excellent movie complete with very creepy scenery and atmosphere, could have been fantastic if the lighting was a tad better.

Watched my Blu of John Carpenter's The Fog. God I love that movie. Although in hindsight Jamie Lee's character seems sort of a twit. After one night of weirdness in that town I would've booked it straight out, no matter how good a lover Tom Atkins was. But the slow creep of the movie and minimal music (mostly just constant low tones) are effective as hell.

I plan on watching the reamake tonight after studying. I hear it's absolute dog crap.

Well I finished the Halloween series, gone through the first 7 Friday the 13ths, watched Zombieland, got to see The Thing on the big screen, finished Tales from the Crypt S7, played through Alien Isolation, and decorated my balcony.

Oh yeah, and I also prefer the original Frankenstein over Bride. Bride is a great movie, but Karloff looked so much better as the creature in the first one. Not only that, but I hate how Bride retconned the ending of the first one to keep Henry alive.
