Wait, NYCC is this week?

Anyway, I'm not sure what to think about the 54 Godzilla. I guess I need to see a better photo of it.

Looks promising. Horrible angle and the camera flash aren't doing any favors. Can't wait to see a better photo.

Hell yeah, Neca coming through!

The first super-articulated G54 (suck it tamashii), and a burning G that isnt the sloppy repaint people thought it'd be (suck it haters).

OH MY GOD(zilla)!!! That 1954 Godzilla looks like the SEX!!!!! Seriously, it's like the total opposite of what my initial thoughts of the first 1984 figure was. As for the Burning Godzilla; it's cool and all but I was hoping that you guys weren't right in predicting the repaint. All good though, it still looks cool. Not sure if I'll be getting it, but I definitely want that 1954 Godzilla.

Yeah, I think the skin texture were already bad enough, but the orange really makes those terrible looking scales pop out.

Godzilla 54 looks pretty rockin'. I like it a lot really. Burning Godzilla, not so much. The colors just don't look that good. Like its been put on too thick, making the face look weird.

I heard that the Burning Godzilla might be made out of translucent material. If that's the case, I might consider buying him.

NECA's Burning Goji appears to me to be a translucent mold job and was painted in the darker gray/blacks. Reason I feel that way is that in seeing the pic and video, the scales are pretty well pronounced and easily seen. That particular scale pattern would be less prominently seen if it were painted over. It is essentially phasing down the texture of the scales with any painting application on hard material like what the figure is. I could be wrong, but I don't feel that I am on that. It greatly appears that they followed the same formula Tamashii did when producing their Burning Godzilla. The only thing that makes it look odd overall on the figure is the head sculpt. Which that design favors the "vs. King Ghidorah" movie head look moreso than the "vs. Space Godzilla".

A friend at NYCC took this full-body shot of the '54. He looks very squat and almost SD in body proportion to me, but it's not like I've done comparisons to the actual suit or anything like that. Still a good head sculpt at least.

it does appear a bit SD with the overly large feet and bent legs. Maybe the legs straighten out more, but yeah great head sculpt. If we could see a side view, then we can see how the figure fleshes out better.

EDIT: Here are new pics of the G54 at NYCC...
http://importingmonsters.blogspot.com/2 ... tures.html

EDIT 2:
G54 is not looking SD afterall from a side view. Looks more like the movie and the translucent is seen pretty well on the new Burning Godzilla as well on the above link.

translucent BG = 80% probability in me buying. I LOOOOOVE that 1954 Godzilla though, WOW!!! Not to mention, that 1984 Godzilla is SICK! I could do without the texture, but it's cool, it's an articulated 1984 figure. As if 1984 figures aren't already tough enough to come by, this is an articulated 1984!!!!! To quote Diego Sanchez, "YES!!... YES!!... YES!!...YES!!"

Now those pics make 54 Godzilla look incredible. Why must I wait until the Spring? 84 is looking good too.

I hope there's some leg articulation on that 54 other than forward and back. Not seeing any articulation seams for a knee or ankle. The leg looks like a solid piece there.

Didn't NECA say they were doing three more? This is technically 2 of that 3, correct? Because the 84 was part of the first three?

The only thing I don't like on 54 is his eye. It just looks like he is trying to look at this own body rather than the ground.

As for the articulation thing, I'm sure this is just the prototype sculpt and not all of it is done. Look at the pictures of Bishop from Aliens. He doesn't look like all of his articulation is showing yet.

Burning Godzilla still looks like he has the blue nails.

And while this won't make me not buy the figure, but '84 still has one SUPER long toe nail. So freaking weird.

G54 does look like it has some wonky proportion, but over all it looks fine enough to me. I like that it seems to be just gray scale, keeping in with the b/w of the movie.
