^ i tend prefer stories that take place in past eras, so i think that has contributed to my enjoyment of the series quite a bit.

Speaking of which i stopped by my FLCS to grab my pulls

New series from Brubaker and Phillips, which is a 40s era noir based in hollywood. Great first issue, but i loooooved 'Criminal' and 'Fatale', so maybe the anticipation is biasing me a bit.

I finished 'The Wake' by Scott Snyder... the first half of the series was one of the best things i've read in a long time. Atmospheric creature horror with good writing and an intriguing story.. the second half of the series was a high seas adventure... and then there was the last issue... which i don't think i understood.. i'll reread the whole thing and see how it works together, but i want more of what was in the first half despite the great world building that was in the second half

Enormous issue 3 continues the non stop action from issue 2, but it doesnt feel like anything is being rushed, so thats much improved over the one-shot

Started reading Kitaro by Shigeru Mizuki (I believe lhb412 recommended it) and love it so far. Its easy to see why its a classic and i enjoy seeing various Japanese folklore and yokai in action

I'd be interested in a Grant Morrison Godzilla... certainly if he's with Legendary they can do something better than Awakening.

So i kept hearing REALLY good things about "Afterlife with Archie" and morbid curiosity got the best of me and i picked up the first trade. So far its a better zombie comic than The Walking Dead. After the initial supernatural event that starts off the zombie apocalypse it plays it like a very straight horror series that focuses on teenagers in Riverdale. Both Betty and Veronica still fighting over Archie, but in a very emotional, grounded manner as opposed to the comical misadventures i picture with Archie.... and i am not going to lie, there was a scene that made me tear up a bit even as a grown man. If you are a fan of horror or zombies I can not recommend this book enough. Artwork by Francesco Francavilla really sets the mood.

^Can't wait. Wondered what, if anything, Mignola would do with his version of the Monster introduced a few years ago.

Wow. I can almost understand gutting Fantastic Four since it hasn't been doing well and the Fox franchise hasnt done it any favors... but X-Men still sells great.

^I read that logic has little to do with it, and that it's mainly to placate a very petty and mercurial investor (the biggest investor in the company).

On the brighter side: new Disney comics from IDW!

If I can get a new monthly Uncle Scrooge book I'll be a happy camper.

I'm a huge Mike Mignola fan. I've been reading the Hellboy trade paperbacks since the first movie came out. While there were only a handful then, the universe has really begun to expand as of late, but it never feels overwhelming with how the stories are published and collected. So I can't recommend these comics enough...

^Hellboy and the BPRD is just a dream come true. I love how Hellboy has evolved over the years, but I really missed the original conception of 'Hellboy as a team book' (that only really came through in the first few years).
