... hmmmm, that teaser footage from SDCC has to be one of the earliest teasers for a film, right? Four years before the sequel.

I know that a teaser for Where the Wild Things Are came out 9 years or so before the film. In that case they were sure it was about to enter production, then it slipped into development hell for a few years, then it spent several years in production.

I don't think it was meant to be an official teaser. Kind of the like the 'I Am Become Death' concept footage.

Here's a Rodan fan art that I found. I really like this, it looks more like a dragon than a pteranodon, but I think something like this could be cool for the sequel.



The above fan art also looks similar to an early concept art for the male Muto. I really wish they had gone for this look instead of what we got. But oh well.

I dig what's going on with that Rodan.

Regarding the MUTO design - as a general rule I've preferred most of the early MUTO designs to what we finally got. The final version seems very familiar and frankly cliche at this point. The early versions showed more originality and frankly were more legitimate as threat to Godzilla.

For Facebook groups, I do like Toho Kaiju Union.

And as for Rodan... They best not make him wing walk. There is no reason for it. We've had monsters like Otachi and the male Muto do it now. There's no reason they can't model his ground movement in the same way the games did before, which worked and looked great. Rodan needs to be able to swing his wings as weapons and thus should be walking upright.

The same goes for Ghidorah. The last thing we need is a King Smaugdorah.

I want a traditional take on all the monsters. I expect some deviations, but they should be recognizable as the Toho kaiju. I also hope we see a more Showa verison of Rodan rather than a simple Pteranodon...and please no SmaugGhidorah as MM said. Ghidorah doesn't need much tweaking.

I'm fine with Rodan 'wing walking.' He should move and attack (with his talons and beak) in a less humanized manner than Godzilla. Ghidorah on the other hand should have great big alien wings that fill up the screen. That is if they make him an alien at all.

And then it turns out he's not actually a member of Monarch, just an actor who was being payed to pretend he knew what was going on. The real mastermind behind the whole thing is Aaron Taylor Johnson.
