I really don't understand the way that mentality works (to be fair I'm seeing it a lot on the "other" board).

I just never considered that there were that many people out there who were only interested in Godzilla and other Toho kaiju. Apparently there's a lot of people missing out on some really great kaiju stuff from Japan. Gamera, Ultraman...even Kamen Rider...have all kind of eclipsed Godzilla for me now personally. I can understand something not floating your boat but to not even be willing to try something that's in the same genre as something you love just seems odd to me.

Maybe I'm over reacting as I'd rather watch a Gamera (including Showa) than most Godzilla movies anyday. The 96 SHMA Gamera is a must have for me. Hopefully Bandai listens to all of the feedback from Godzilla 2014 and does some course correction. I'd have to see QC tarnish the release of this figure.

As a Gamera fan first and foremost, I still am not very interested in many figures from the Gamera universe after this initial Gamera. I know they will never do Showa so I'm not even considering it an option. Really, all I want is a Hyper Gyaos too and I'm good.

I will pre-order a MonsterArt instead of waiting around if they announce Guiron.

I like a few of the Showa Gamera films, but strongly dislike Jiger and Zigra.

The Heisei trilogy is great and G2 is one of the best kaiju films ever made IMO...so I'm happy SHMA is releasing Gamera 96. I hope Legion will follow.

We already have an EXCELLENT highly articulated Legion that sold for cheaper than any SHMA figure so far. Just sayin.

Call me interested in the Gamera. But I'll be annoyed if it's like $120+ shipped.

Probably $95 shipped. You probably could get it for $86 with free shipping on Amazon.

Alrighty friends,

I followed up on my Dry Brush and here's the results. I must say it made the textures stick out really nice. Nothing wrong with the dry brush from before as it looked good. But I really liked the dark yellow coloring I see pretty much everywhere from the art books, to the HG figures to the Vinyl.

It just stands out much nicer when taking a photo.

I used 2 parts Tamiya thinner to 1 Tamiya Dark Yellow for the results bellow. It came out a tad brighter on the upper torso, but I'm okay with this. Anyway, dry brush HOOOO!

Well its a dry brushed coat, from Tamiya. It'll probably hold for a long time. This isn't exactly a smooth surface, but a very rough textured surface so it sinks it. If you want to try this, be sure that the paint is very very very thin.

Dark Yellow is the way to go, or Mid Stone is the Valleho equivalent.

Mothra, doesn't like to sit straight on the stand. And I was very surprised at the segmentation on the thorax.. or is abdomen... her ass. Her ass was very segmented. She can really shake her tail.

Battra. Front left leg likes to pop out. And either his ass is mostly one piece or the segments are really stiff.

Battra larva. No words. Simply amazing.

Mothra larva. Fantastic articulation. Although the web spray effect feels damn fragile.

But I can't play with them yet. I was just checking to make sure I didn't get a dud. I'll get them only after I either put back the money into saving from this, pass my coding class, or after Christmas (which ever happens first). So until then.. to the closet they go.

If we were going to go that far, then the Heisei Gamera movies blew most of the Showa era of Godzilla away too. In fact, Gamera III is probably the third greatest Kaiju movie of all time.

Sometimes I wonder if you're really all that much of a fan of Godzilla in the first place, or if you're primary interest is simply the MonsterArts figures. The MA threads are really the only place you're actually active, both here and over at TK.

It's also interesting that you have absolutely no interest in Gamera or ANYTHING Toho-produced outside of the main Godzilla series, but you seem to campaign pretty hard for unused and/or video game monsters like Bagan or Super Godzilla. Gamera I kinda, sorta get, since it was a different company entirely, but you don't care for anything Toho did if it wasn't Godzilla? So no Gargantuas, Atragon, Yog, Frankenstein Conquers the World, Mysterians, King Kong Escapes, Matango, H-Man, Battle in Outer space, Varan...you have zero interest in seeing what Toho was up to in the golden age outside of strictly the Godzilla series. Come on, man. Open your mind a little.
