^ I cannot fathom the love for G2K. Orga is a boring monster, the effects are poor, and Godzilla looks derpy. Meh.

I watched GvsKG last night. I posted a review in the talkback thread as always, but that movie sucks. Having just watched MZ and Ghidrah recently, Heisei KG simply pales in comparison to its Showa counterpart.

I do find some bright spots in the film, but overall it's kinda meh for me despite my love for the Heisei G design.

The only poor effect in G2K is the CGI swimming scene.

However, it makes up for it with awesome camera angles. I jut love the scene where the car is driving and Godzilla is getting farther and farther away in the background.

I can see why Hybrid wouldn't like G2k. That matte shots are pretty bad at times particularly during Godzilla's first rampage when Shinoda's SUV is driving with a 10,000 foot tall Godzilla wiggling around in the background. That said, its still an awesome movie with the atmosphere of a 50's scifi flick. Also Orga rules!

I watched Megaguirus and GMK today. Both are whatever I gave them before (9 for GMK, I think a 4 for Mega).

Leave Her to Heaven

Famous for being an incredible film noir with nary a gangster or gumshoe in sight, not to mention gorgeous technicolor and picturesque settings instead of shadowy black and white in grubby hotel rooms and narrow alleyways. The movie starts out seeming like a great romance, but it gradually becomes apparent that there's something... not quite right with the beautiful Ellen (Gene Tierney). A young Vincent Price shows up for a small but pivotal role.

Very happy I spent a little extra money on the Twilight Time Blu-Ray, because this has to be one of the most fantastic looking classic film transfers I've ever seen.

So we ended up getting to see Ghostbusters tonight at the Alamo Drafthouse and it was freaking awesome on the big screen. Sony's brand new 4K print looks down right gorgeous and fixes all of the issues I had with their BD from five years ago. The grain during the scene when the ghosts are freed has been significantly toned down to the point that it barely exists. :bravo: The movie itself is fantastic, but I feel ashamed as I just got Ray's dream sequence. lol Overall, I give this movie a great big 8/10 stars.

The Mummy's Hand

Universal's saga of disappointing mummy sequels begins! Some characters walk around and try to be funny for like 2/3rds of the movie's short runtime (some of these actors are quite funny in other films, I promise) until they eventually get to an ancient tomb and meet Kharis, Imhotep's non-union equivalent.

While I do agree, I think Hand is the best of the Karis movies though...

I prefer the first few mummy sequels to the original mummy, which I quite frankly find a tad dull.

Yeah, I really like the original Mummy. Hated it as a kid because it wasn't what I thought of as a traditional mummy, (I preferred Hammer's take) but it's really grown on me.

Watched Ghostbusters again now that I have the Blu-Ray set. Still awesome, still the kind of movie where you notice something awesome you hadn't noticed before each time you watch it.

Found it interesting how in an on-set interview Ackroyd says the movie is an update of all those old comedies where an established comedian/comedy team would encounter the supernatural, like Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein.

The Mummy's Tomb

Opens with a 10 minute long recap of the previous film (and with only a one hour runtime to itself), has several actors from the previous film in old-age makeup, and now it's Lon Chaney Jr. under the wrapping. Nothing to write home about, but I enjoyed it a bit more than the first Kharis film.

Watched Godzilla vs Gigsn tonight.

It's a fun movie with a solid cast (and petty funny). I liked it, despite some pretty obvious flaws. Plus it has Gigan.

Ghostbusters II

"Stay fit, keep sharp, make good decisions"

Sure it's not the stone-cold classic the first movie is, and sure it cheats by undoing stuff they did in the first one just so they can do it again, and sure the plot is beat-for-beat very similar to the first one... but come on. It's still a lot of fun.

I like the dark gray jumpsuits. If they ever make another one I think the new Ghostubusters should have those.

Monsters vs. Aliens - This was okay. Had some decently funny moments, but I didn't feel it was exceptional overall. Characters, pacing, etc. were all about average. Stephen Colbert as the president was a highlight. I did appreciate the homages to sci-fi movies throughout. Also, this movie probably has a better idea of how suspension bridges work than G2014 did - just throwing that out there. :P

Dracula's Daughter

Never seen this before. Gloria Holden is quite good, a worthy successor to Lugosi. Great to see Van Sloan back and I also quite liked Otto Kruger as the lead. It's a low-key, somewhat unremarkable Universal monster sequel that's saved by some good performances.

Ghostbusters II - This is my first time ever seeing this movie in full (I've only seen the last 15 minutes) and honestly, it kind of sucks. It is only half as funny as the first one. The first half hour of the movie feels really awkward and off and it really doesn't start to get good until they are back in business and then the ending gets dumb again. The final battle with Vigo was just so bland and Vigo himself was not even an interesting villain. Overall, I'm going to give this a 6/10 because the scenes that the movie does well in, and really great. Nevertheless, I just do not understand how the writing was able to drop in quality so much in just one movie. This is like if you went from Batman (Burton's) right to Batman Forever. From Alien to Alien 3 without Aliens in the middle. I can see why they never made it to a trilogy.
