So the more I think about Sin City 2, the more I start to think about its flaws. The endings to the Nancy and Johnny stories just end so damn abruptly to the point that both stories feel incomplete. Not just that, but Nancy looks perfectly normal in "The Hard Goodbye" but she is completely different here, and obviously THG has to take place after this one. That completely jacks up continuity between the stories to the point that maybe "A Dame to Kill For" was the best story in the movie as it felt the most complete despite my issues with it.

Hopefully, the BD release will separate the stories like they did with the first one as the flow in this one just feels off as opposed to it feeling natural in the first one.

^ IIRC, A Dame to Kill for is the only adapted story and the others are new..also it sounds like the added to Nancy's role substantially

Went to see Guardians of the Galaxy at a very expensive luxury theater called iPic.
Had to become a member just to save $6 on ticket (still $12 for a show before 6 PM).
That was the "cheap" seats, the better seats (with full service waiters) were an additional $8.
Since there's no waiters for the cheap seats, you go to the bar to get stuff before the movie.
I was a bit thirsty, so I got a Fuze Red Iced Tea, in a bottle, it was almost $5...could have bought at least 3 for that price at the store.
Only have $3 left on the $20 gift card I had, and I doubt I am going to use it.
It's a very nice theater, but it's also VERY expensive, and it was rather cold in there as well.

Anyhow, the movie was pretty fun, and I made sure to stay till after the credits.
BTW noticed a Stunt Double for Chris Pratt was named William Dent, can't remember if anybody (cousin wise) has that name.

Later I watched Jurassic Park which I recently bought a Steelbook of.
It has both DVD & Blu-Ray (since I now have a PS3, went with Blu-Ray).
It's been a while since I watched this movie, since I sold it (and the two sequels) off.
I think cause the sequels weren't quite as good as the first movie, I got tired of them.
Those weighed down my opinion on the first movie.
It's still a great movie!
I won't be buying the sequels again.
BTW I am really sure I swam in that pool behind where the helicopter lands in the movie.
This is on Kauai and after a kayak trip & long hike (involving the village from Outbreak & a rope swing ala Raiders) we ended up at that pond.
There was some broken pavement nearby (early 2000s) so maybe the helipad itself...

I still like The Lost World. JP3 isn't very good, but I dig Lost World enough that I'm pleased as punch I have the trilogy blu-ray set.

So Sir Richard Attenborough passed away yesterday.
He was 90.

Kinda odd that I didn't know that until after I watched Jurassic Park.

I mentioned watching The Great Escape (I think) recently and his younger self kinda reminded me of Leo DiCaprio (looked kinda like him).

I watched The Rock last night as I finished up the next chapter in my coding book. Man I love this movie. It was Micheal Bay before his name became a warning sign. I'd call it a near quintessential popcorn movie. It's a B level plot with some great actors. The shout off between Michael Biehn and Ed Harris (and really every scene with Ed Harris) gives me slight chills. Connery and Cage work well enough together even though it seems like an odd pairing. The only real issues I had rewatching this was that during the shower room shoot out there was a bit too much random shaky-cam nonsesne. And the dummy bodies during some deaths were unintentionally hilarious. And I have to say I love Ed Harris' character, he was one of the first movie villains I saw as empathetic.

^I maintain that Michael Bay is good at small-scale foil-character action movies. The Rock, Bad Boys, Pain & Gain. It's when he gets into the big spectacle stuff that he loses it. Those movies where pacing and story matter more than just funny one-liners and solid fight scenes.

Predator - We got to see this at the Alamo Drafthouse tonight, so it was great to watch it on the big screen for the first time ever. Unfortunately, the version they were showing was Fox's new remaster that makes Dillon look like he is a wax figure, especially in the beginning of the movie. My god it is terrible looking. Aside from that though, the movie looks good. The story is simplistic, but the movie does something different with the 80s action cliches and makes it into its own thing. The effects are incredible, especially on the Predator, and the movie is just an action packed enjoyable roller coaster ride with great moments of development and one liners. Yeah, Arnold's character shields are turned on to full, but that does not take away from its overall enjoyment. I give this movie an 8/10 and it is easily one of Arnold's best movies, if not his best.

I say "get to da choppa" quite often.

I watched both National Treasure movies on DVD again.
Both are pretty fun.
Hopefully they do go ahead & make at least one more.
Though apparently there's domain names for a 3rd & 4th movie.

Wonder if that will have to do anything with "page 47" of the Presidents Book.

BTW you can apparently order an exact replica of the prop they used.
It's only $5000...plus $50 for shipping.

Paranormal Activity The Marked Ones - I have no idea why I watched this movie, but it is easily the worst of the PA I have seen. It should have been subtitled "Take a Shot Everytime We Shout 'STOP IT JESSE!'" There was no suspense, no build up, it was just utter crap with even worse acting than before. Not only that, but there is no real ending, it just stops, which is incredible dumb. Don't even waste your time on this piece of ****. I give it a 1/10 stars. Why only a 1? Well, it is still better than Battlefield Earth.

The PA series lost its way after the third one. The first three are fine (even if PA2 is a bit of a retread), but they've clearly run out of ways to keep things scary.

Seeing it on the big screen really sells the outrageousness of Mr. Stay Puft in a way that a TV screen doesn't.

Personally, don't even waste your time with these garbage washers called movies. I hate these movies with a passion so I really did not want to even watch the new one, but my g/f borrowed it from the library.

Kamen Rider Taisen - Showa vs Heisei: If you have seen the last two Taisen movies, then you already know the plot. Evil villains make a plot to destroy world, both sides of the good guys have to battle each other, one of these heroes is pretending to work for the villain, big lackluster fight appears, the end. That is pretty much this movie in a nut shell. And if you are wanting to see the big fight against the two eras of the riders, you might as well just skip to the 90 minute mark of the movie for one of the most unexciting battles in Toku history. Add on top that the big bad villain is actually taken out by the ToQGers and KyoryuRed while Kamen Rider 15 doesn't even use half of his fifteen rider abilities, this movie just flat out sucks. The only Heisei riders to get any sort of screen time are W, Gaim, Kabuto, 555, and of course, Decade, while the rest are excretionly mistreated here. If you are a Kuuga, Agito, Blade, OOO, or Ryuki fan, prepare for major disappointment as each of them get maybe 15 seconds of screen time. If you are a Zo, Riderman, Super-1, Skyrider, or a Shin fan, expect the same amount of dismay. Overall, this movie just flat out sucks and is not worth sitting through the 98 minute running time. Go watch a good Toku movie instead.

Draft Day - you already know if you're gonna like this movie or not. If you think you will, you will. If you think you won't, you won't. Nothing in the movie is gonna sway people either way on that one. It's like a long commercial for the NFL, and since kickoff is just a few days away I enjoyed it.

Chef - It's like the food industry version of Draft Day. No real conflict, no real overcoming of adversity, no real story beyond the basic premise of the movie...and it's like a long commercial for Twitter. Pretty disappointing, honestly.

Bloodsport - this is a "it's so awesomely bad, it's good" kinda movies. It's full of nostalgia and terrible acting and awful fighting scenes, but I absolutely adore the bad "80's music" soundtrack.

Plus now I'm so amped that I'm pretty sure I can destroy anyone in a martial arts tournament. Bring it.

I just watched Dinosaur 13 (via TWC's OnDemand offerings), very interesting documatary. It's about the aftermath after the discovery of the Tyrannosaurus Rex called Sue. Check out the trailer. maybe stop by the official site. If you're interested your television provider probably has it on their OnDemand offerings too, not sure about Netflix, Hulu, etc.

Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II

Probably the best of the '90s "vs." movies just by the virtue of lacking the catastrophic flaws that the other Godzilla films of the era tend to have. Despite Rodan being a stiff puppet I think the Godzilla/Rodan fight at the beginning is a highlight of the Heisei series just because it has a physicality that the movies usually lack.
