Godzilla fans will be like poor old Donald here in about a year, waiting for 2018 .

I just can't believe 2018. 2017, sure. But 2018? That is a VERY hard pill to swallow.

It's not so much the 4 years between sequels - I think it's that we know there is a new movie coming and can't really discuss it as if we know anything about it besides which minsters will be appearing.

It's hard for me to imagine what life will be like 4 years from now, let alone waiting for a Godzilla movie.

2004 to 2014... that's the longest wait between Godzilla films, right? Terror of Mechagodzilla to Return of Godzilla was only 9 years (and it was a shorter wait for American fans, since it took several years for a lot of the '70s movies to reach the States).

Anyway, we weathered that okay. 4 years is a cinch.

I would be pretty disappointed if I had waited for years with baited breath and got something like The Lost World: Jurassic Park, personally.

I think I'm siding with XvGojira here. Some of these things may have felt a touch disappointing at the time, but I just re-watched Lost World not that long ago and was like, "Sweet damn. I LIKE this movie" and T3 grew on me quite a bit over the years between its release and Salvation to the point where I was hopeful Salvation would be at least as good as it...it wasn't.

I think everyone will just need to do in four years what they did four months ago: check your expectations at the door and see the movie as fresh as possible.

4 years is a long wait, certainly. But let's not forget...we're Godzilla fans. We've endured longer waits. Longer waits with no news on upcoming films whatsoever. I'm happy just to have something confirmed to look forward to!

I'm also happy to be almost as big of a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan as I am a Godzilla fan...because there's plenty to look forward to in regards to that in the coming years until Godzilla comes back around!!
