Godzilla vs Biollante EB DVD/BD Release Discussion

The Echobridge employeed has resurfaced on Tohokingdom. He said once the error in the audio was discovered, he wasn't allowed to comment on it publicly. Also, the commentary was approved by Toho but the higher ups at Echobridge said it wasn't worth the effort to re-release the disc with the commentary intact. So, he's asking for help from anyone who has ties with Lionsgate and he said he could get the commentary track and the Toho approval to them if he can get ahold of a contact there. Truthfully, I think it's probably to late but worth a shot I suppose.

What is the legality of just having the commentary released online separately? With Rifftrax as an example, I don't see why this doesn't happen more often.

I shouldn't be too late to do. If it was near the end of September then yeah but the disc won't go for mastering until probably end of September begining of October.

Ya know, it's a real shame when reputable people put in so much effort to get a good product out and some incompetence ruins it for everybody. "Destroy All Monsters", "Godzilla vs. Megalon" and now "Godzilla vs. Biollante" can be added to the list of video disc release screw ups. Is it really to much to ask to get it right the first time?

Good news - There is audio in every speaker.

Bad news - LGF was straight up lazy and just kept the EB disc with a new no artwork disc. Put the disc in and the Echo Bridge logos are everywhere.

IIRC, the video for the last release was mistakenly crunched to half the available space on the disc. Is there anyone with a BD drive who can check this one out to compare the file size?

Just to sum this up, the Lionsgate release is worth the double dip correct? I have the first EB release but am considering purchasing the Lionsgate version.

It has the corrected audio, but is otherwise identical to the previous EB release. Still no commentary to be found.
