What does the fact that so many kaiju films being nominated for a lambasting say about these people or their fans? I don't know, but "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" them.

i go back and forth on the topic... i'm fine with riffing Guiron or Megalon, but i don't like riffing on Mothra vs Godzilla, G'54, GtB, etc. I've always figured it was a personal quirk... in fact at one point my wife started riffing on G'14 and i pretty much lost my cool... i kind of recovered with a "i have deal with this enough in the fandom, i don't want to deal with it at home".. but yeh... i typically don't watch these movies with other people just because how frequently people go into riff mode.

I'd argue that any movie this side of "Schindler's List" is fair game. Riffing a movie doesn't mean hating it. Rifftrax did "Casablanca" after all. Of course, the worse the movie, the more fun it is.
