But again, those 27 other Japanese movies have the original in common. Even if the character strayed, they have a lineage tracing back to the first. That, and some people just flat don't like the portrayal of Godzilla after 1968. That doesn't diminish the criticism in the least, we are not talking about the other movies that have reduced the message. Those films merits can be discussed in their respective talk back thread.

This is the start of a new franchise that neglected that aspect of Godzilla from the start. Now you have some predictable consequences: Just look at people trying to rationalize Mothra in the sequel when you have a 2-heroes problem. It would be quite odd to turn Godzilla's character around to incorporate elements of his character that were already addressed by MUTOs.

Again, I see nothing that hasn't been done before. Each new film contains story arcs, some extreme others not, exploring different aspects of his character as well as altering his history. Godzilla is multi-dimensional for a reason. Some prefer the one-dimensionality of the first film over the compromises taken in the following films because to them, that's what defines the character. As we all know, there's a whole lot more that defines the character than just the first film.

With that in mind, I still think they white washed Godzilla's character to portray him in a heroic light.

Do Godzilla vs Gigan and Godzilla vs Megalon bother by any chance?

This is not a discussion about Godzilla vs. Megalon or Godzilla vs. Gigan. If you would like to discuss the artistic merits of those film symbolism in their respective threads, you are more than welcome to.

Chances are that Rodan and Mothra will carry on the legacy of the MUTOs and Godzilla. They will also be creatures spawned from a time in prehistory when radioactivity existed by natural means on earth. I don't consider that extreme as far as "white-washing" is concerned. I don't see Ghidorah as an earth creature in the sequel. That is extreme.

I am not having a debate with you about the definition of the word "origin." Godzilla symbolizes nuclear holocaust in the original film and the new one doesn't.

Having that connection have to that story is a defining aspect of the character and not something am I simply willing to dismiss for the sake of trying something different.

It is a defining aspect of the FIRST Godzilla, not the primary aspect of the ones that followed.

It's a rebooted franchise. I feel that Legendary should have better honored that heritage. Especially given that those elements DO exist in the film, but are attributed to the MUTOs.

I feel like I am repeating myself at this point.

The music in Amazing Spider-Man 2 was almost comically bad. But then again, so was 90% of the movie, so it fit the bill pretty perfectly.

Jorzilla, bottom line is that if mankind does not tamper with the effects of nuclear energy, both G’54 and G’14 will still be in their slumber. For me, Godzilla is much more than just an embodiment of an atom or nuclear bomb. Godzilla is the embodiment of man’s arrogance with nuclear power period. And Legendary’s film does show it with Godzilla himself (as well as the Mutos as you stated).

And now Rodan, Mothra and Ghidrah are coming back to the fold. If Legendary changes their origins, of course, one has the right to be upset, but then again, Toho did it first! With Ghidrah in 1991, with Mothra in GMK (and heck, some here are welcoming a change of origins for Mothra), and Rodan in Final Wars.

Anything I say you decide to nitpick on tiny details without actually addressing the core of my argument. I have said my piece in this matter at this point. I am stand by what I say and feel I no longer need to defend it for you.

Also, please look at the definition of Strawman. I am using an analogy in this case to illustrate MY point not tear down your argument.
