I found it very disappointing and surprising that this film did so poorly. I dont think its because of Peabody & Sherman either. I honestly dont know what the reason is. Still I plan on seeing this with my kids, but will have to wait until it goes to our local budget theater. I can't imagine Jason Segal alone was thwe reason for the success of the 2011 film. Going into it, I didn't even know he was in it. The celebrity cameos are nice, but I go there for The Muppets.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

Uh, I guess it wasn't as good as the last film? But I for one loved it.

But then, I also love Muppets From Space so who am I to say? Maybe I wasn't clapping like a retarded seal the way I did during most of The Muppets but Muppets Most Wanted is definitely a worthy entry in my book.

Re-reading what I had to say about this film it sounds more negative than I really feel. Overall I did enjoy this movie a lot. It's just that this one was much more uneven and the flaws more obvious and easier to pick apart. I do think it's a shame at how poorly it's doing at the box office. It's still a well made and very enjoyable family film.

I also need to add that Bret McKenzie and the Muppets is a match made in heaven. The soundtracks for both of the new films have been stellar and I particularly can't stop looping Most Wanted's "Interrogation Song" today. XD

The Interrogation Song is the best song in the new movie.

Although I do kind of wish the movie was still called "The Muppets Again", it kind of makes the opening song seem almost out of place. If they made a joke at the expense of the song and title change it'd be understandible, but they just left it alone.

I saw this yesterday. It was. Alright, I enjoyed it, but not as much as the last film. I definitely like it more than Muppets in Space, and I feel like I liked it more than In Manhattan, but I've not seen that film in YEARS.

The celine dion and Seventh Seal jokes had me laughing like an idiot in the theater.
Seventh Seal with the Swedish Chef is great.

Very cool. It must just be the digital compositing (and possible other digital "fixes" they mentioned) that make it look so much cleaner than the old blue screen effects we saw them use in the 70's and 80's. That stuff you could look at and instantly tell what it was. Nowadays computer composited things often wind up looking computer generated (not sure how I feel about that aspect personally, but it's a debate for another time). But it's good to hear at least they didn't use cgi and it was all puppetry!

I thought it was CG at one point as well, but I think it was just the lighting coupled with the green screen for Constantine and the guards. It looked weird.

My ultra-cynical review of the movie is: The baby seemed to like the bright colors until she got bored about 90 minutes in and fell asleep.

It's not quite THAT bad or anything, but it is too long, the final act is underwhelming, and if you're going to focus on Muppets instead of humans, perhaps you could focus on the more delightful and fun muppets instead of Constantine and a depressed Kermit...Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais bring surprising little to the table here, especially Gervais who's so forgettable that I can't really remember anything notably funny that he did.

The songs are good, Ty Burrell and Sam are great, and the secondary and tertiary stuff here steals the show in terms of laughs and memorable parts. Some of it missed the mark (the Celine Dion thing was funny the first time, but then we had to stare at her decrepit monkey skeleton face for far too long), but stuff like the "goodnight" joke got good laughs out of me. Much like the 2011 movie, I'd buy this one if I found it at the right price, but I certainly won't be running out to get it day one on blu-ray and I'm not exactly upset that I missed seeing it at a better (read: more expensive) theater.

Most of the country seems to have felt the same way, as this movie grossing $51 million domestically on a $50 million budget is pretty damn sad.
