I'm with you on that re-paint Rodan. Man, if that comes to pass it looks awesome as hell and really looks like a different figure in my eyes. That's a must have for me if it's released.

As someone said, it's clearly a cash grab, but whatever. The finish has a nice matte look to it, rather than shiny on Fire Rodan.

Since Legion brought it up, if Godzilla 89 is ever released, is it different enough to warrant a retail release? Or would it be relegated to online web exclusive like normal Rodan likelu will be (which means absolutely nothing for us, because those of us in North America will 99% likely get it).

It hasn't been confirmed if Rodan will be a web exclusive yet. The only information we know about it so far is that picture.

Eventually, this line will do what every other line does (Hot Toys) and start pricing everyone out. Get in while the going is good.

For now, I think the 60 dollar range is fair for most standard sized Godzilla figures. DXs (KG and Biollante) will obviously be more and some (Rodan) will/should be less.

I'm at a loss for words on the new Kiryu though...that does seem steep.

This line rarely seems to dip below $60. I would bet they will put Rodan redux at $65+ as a web exclusive
There are still the occasional releases that get me really excited about this line (upcoming Battra + Mothra) but when I see slice and diced Legend-Goji I lose steam, not because they are bad, but I see them as a missed opportunity.

I really like the Rodan repaint. I've always dug that deco more than the Fire Rodan one.

So I decided to try something and took the dome off and then smeared a black sharpie over it. It is definitely much darker now, but I have to say that Bandai's decision to paint in the eye sockets is really what is throwing everything off. Nevertheles, it does look better but for some reason it comes out a little blue when I took a picture.

Here is a picture with the flash on:

It is still far from perfect, but unless Bandai wants to offer a replacement dome or something, it is the best I can do.

You don't have any pics of you taking the dome off do you? And did it just pop back on or did you have to secure it some how?

I was wondering what a sharpie would do and if there might be something a bit better. A thin coat of some paint or something?

That's odd because I haven't heard ANYTHING about them no longer doing AVP stuff, and I'm on the payroll for that... Who's and where is this information being spilled from? Any official transcripts, videos, or other sources?

Well if it is true, then these Alien, Predator, and Big Chap's value just increased liked crazy, even used.

I'm skeptical though, as I feel I'd be notified in advanced.

Very cool news indeed to hear.

:( Kinda miffed that Showa is on the Back burner. ALSO Metal Build Pacific Rim? >__> Yikes........

Also no news on Sailor Neptune and Uranus makes me worried :(

But Lord Zedd and Gamera sounds cool!

What is this Metal-Build Pac Rim news? What is a "Metal-Build?"

And I think Gamera-wise it's almost a lock for a 99 Gamera and Hyper Gyaos. I'd be very surprised if we got much more than that...until the new film anyways.

I think the accessory sets are pretty cool AND I think the reaction to the new Rodan (if we get it) has been almost universally positive. As far as repaints go, it's about as good as it gets.

I agree that we need some more variety with these figures. Hopefully, the future is bright in that regard. I think we can all just accept that the Showa figures aren't happening (with a handful of exceptions like Titanosaurus). If that's all you're interested from in this line then you can probably ignore these threads, and the line, all-together.
