Did anyone else think of MechaGodzilla or Kiryu when they saw the old Godzilla bones???? Sequel idea maybe?

The monster in the cave looked more like a snake.

^I can see that... but at the same time - as a selfish Godzilla fan who wants his movies to be successful - I think it was terrific advertising campaign and that it caught the public interest beautifully. So, okay, it was a little deceptive.

Advertising message: Godzilla - he's the baddest @#$%&#$@%! on the planet!
Actual film: The world's in danger, only one thing can save us: Godzilla - he's the baddest @#$%&#$@%! on the planet!

I do wish we could have seen a daylight battle. The start of the final battle in the rain was awesome...then it was night.

I love the way the monsters all fought. Especially the male Muto, the way he hooked onto Godzilla and started dive bombing him was awesome. Looked like classic Toho kaiju combat.

Enjoyed the movie..random observations:

-Saw roach and thought Megalon cameo!
-Human aspect did not bother me at all.
-All of Godzillas' landings were amazing..the small touches really helped, mass flock of birds in particular.
-Film channeled some Gamera Guardian of the universe, specially with Godzillas evolving role (even threw in a little boy to recall the big turtle olden days)..plus his role as a floating atoll
-Honestly the weakest aspect of the film was Godzilla himself, his design as well as the look of his "beam" (didn't look powerful enough as a flame). Could a man in a suit enhanced with CGI have created a better looking Godzilla.

-Crowd applauded at conclusion of monster battle and at films end...lots of very satisfied comments upon exit too.

Need to organize my thoughts....

I LOVED IT!

It's insane how they stealth made a Showa Godzilla movie, and NOT the dour 1954 original.

Need to see it again ASAP

Stealth Showa film is a description I have never heard until now, and I agree with it.

I'm actually happy they went that route. As much as I liked Gojira and The Return Of Godzilla, I like that they went this route.

A friend of mine who was skeptical of the whole project is NOW "THEY WEREN'T GRIMDARK ENOUGH!"

People.

^ bahahahha @ grimdark.

It's always hard for me to balance this. I love Godzilla as a hero and villain. I even like him to be the anti-hero. The character can work in a myriad of ways. I was talking to jelly about this...we were discussing that if G is the hero in the next film, you can still have some person who is obsessed with killing him (like G2K's Katagiri) and you'd still have the military engage him.

Besides, Godzilla is so massive in this film that his mere presence kills people. I have a hard time believing that he's not a threat. Ironically, this movie does play out more like GOTU than any Godzilla film I can think of..GvsGigan is also a fair comparison.

I'm about to head into the theater for viewing number 2!

Those 70-80 million opening weekend predictions may actually come true.

Well.......my I had bad luck all day today. Everyone was kicked out of the theater after the whole place blacked out and the whole place lost power. I was only able to watch from the beginning to the part after the Train transportation part. In other words, I DIDN'T get to see the third act. Sigh, well at least get to see it again tomorrow.

Also little gift.
