That one cord sound that seems to be in every clip when Godzilla emerges is awesome. Who needs a new theme? Every time I hear it I'm just like YES GODZILLA!

Okay, so a few early reviewers really liked the film, but had the complaint of 'too many expository scenes.' This is nothing new. These are commonly derided by viewers as being a weak spot of giant monster movies. I think Shinichi Sekizawa must've agreed with them, as he either made them short and to the point or folded them into stuff he actually cared about (like character relationships).

... but here's the deal: I love expository scenes in giant monster movies: Yamane theorizing just what Godzilla is, the scientist trying to sell the danger of giant ants to doubting government folks in THEM!, pointing to a dinosaur book to show how big an adult Gorgo would be, the ridiculous cross-section of Gyaos in order to explain how its sonic beam works, explaining how the Legion organisms work, ect., ect.

I like it.

PS - As a lifelong Godzilla fan that new clip today gave me no end of delight, but also makes me leery of seeing any more clips before the film is release.

Godzilla movie? Hell, try blockbuster movies in general. Even beloved masterpieces of pop cinema like The Dark Knight, The Avengers, or Avatar have their share of piss-poor acting and cringe-worthy dialogue. If the script for this movie was literally so bad as to prevent enjoyment of the film, I think we'd be hearing more of that by now.

With all these talks of good reviews coming in.. IMDb has a going rate of 8.9 stars out if 10. Not sure if that is unusual for them, but that is a pretty good rating in my opinion.

Yeah, IMDb really bugs me...because very few people rate movies based on how they actually feel. People either think the rating for a movie is too low, and so just give it a ten to lift that number up even if they think the movie is a 7, or they give it a one because they think the rating is too high, so they give it a 1 even if they think it's actually like a 4 or 5.
Too many movies on IMDb fall right around a 7.

RT, while not perfect, is better, IMHO. It basically just counts "yay" or "nay". Even Metacritic is better too.

Look at the top 10 Box Office performers thus far this year.
On IMDb, the lowest is rated I think a 6.5 and the highest is rated an 8.2.
Now look at the RT scores: Need for Speed is as low as 23%. Lego is 96%. The others fall all over in the middle. That's much more realistic. Their Metacritic scores range from like 39 to 82 or something like that.

People can bemoan RT ratings all they want...they're a MUCH better indicator than IMDb scores.
