I'm more excited by things like how much attention the movie is getting. I dunno if maybe it's just because I'm a sports fan, so I've got the NBA and NHL playoffs on a lot, but the TV spots seem to be EVERYWHERE...and I'd say not JUST during these playoffs (though arguably they're getting more viewers there than they are via any other TV spot, since I'd say most people tend not to watch sports via DVR), still I've seen ads on the following TV stations:
NBC
CBS
ABC
TNT
Spike
FX
NBCSports
ESPN
USA
...basically any station that's not devoted to female viewers (ie, Bravo, HGTV, E!)
During programs like The Amazing Race, various sporting events, Ink Master, WWE Monday Night Raw, Modern Family....and even during some syndicated programming. It really seems like if you aren't AWARE that this is a movie, then you aren't paying attention AT ALL. I've even seen some people (non-fans obv.) that have said they can't wait until it comes out because they are sick of seeing advertisements for it!
I mean, it's certainly no 1998 ad campaign (goodness that was HUGE) but I kinda feel like it's being advertised (on TV) more than Spider-Man or X-Men. I'm seeing some more of the Spider-Man advertising spool out, but not in the wide range of times, stations and programming that Godzilla is getting. Maybe that's just because Legendary knows they need to get the word out there more than a sequel with a pre-established fanbase...
...but bottom-line: The CONFIDENCE with which this movie is being advertised is what has me excited.
