The new Godzilla's fat you say?

Oh?

Yeah I didn't think so, either.

Lol...I kind of get the fat references for that anime girl. While I don't think she is fat. She is drawn slouchy with drooping shoulders and dumpy butt. Which means she is not muscular at all and never gets exercise. A thin girl who stays that way by not eating very much.

Godzilla looks powerful. Not really getting fat from the design but powerlifter build. Thick muscular.

Someone has attended an early screening of the new film, and they've got pics to prove it.

http://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/index.ph ... 2157.13410

There are spoilers, so beware. The guy had an extremely positive reaction to it.

*Edit: here's the guy's review with the spoilers removed:

"Anyway you're probably wondering what I thought.

This film was f--king monumentally awesome! I wanted to write a bad review just to piss off Aspie but I can't. First things first the serious tone of this movie works incredibly well. It's not so serious that you can't have fun, the fun is all with GODZILLA. They nailed his character. He's intelligent, badass and above all scary. He's terrifying and yet you're on his side to kick the MUTOs arse. He's massive, and his ridiculous size is totally believable: every step, every roar, every movement carries so much weight. His roar is sooo loud, I was watching this in a screen with a Dolby sound system and it shook the room, literally. if this doesn't win an Oscar for sound design I'll be surprised! It was like the first time you heard Jurassic Park. I could cream more over how amazingly well they nailed the G but I think that sums it up. They nailed Godzilla. Oh and his removed

The MUTOs were fantastic. I don't want to give too much away but they surprised me by being so removed You'll have to see it for yourselves.

All the human characters were great, Aaron Taylor Johnson's character Brody was my favourite and Bryan Cranston steals the opening 30 minutes. But his character does pass the batten onto Brody who goes through a lot of "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" but it's all executed perfectly. Not one character was boring or a drag to the films pace, which was fine, it didn't feel too long or too short, just right.

This felt a lot like a Godzilla film from the Heisei era with all the weight of the original. It's ridiculously well made and I can't wait to see it again, and again, and again. I'm so glad I didn't watch the trailers because I was in awe from start to finish."

Thanks for posting a review that doesn't actually spoil. It's so hard to not check out every little thing now, but I am proud to have not even watched the Asian trailer, despite how cool it sounds. Gotta stay tough and not give in to temptation for 2 more weeks!

Early screenings reviews from fans and critics from international openings will be rolling in soon. Hmmm... to read or not to read? FWIW, it would be nice if those posting such things include spoiler tags and or snip the give aways.

I'm all for the movie having a Heisei feel, as long as the writing, effects, characters, and action sequences are better.

Perfect review without really going to far into detail. I can wait no longer. I need this film in my life.

I'm SUPER excited to see this movie. Believe me I'd try to see this movie on opening day but due to work commitments may not be able to do so. In fact I may not even be able to see it until a couple of days after opening day. For the rest of you here how many of you will be booking off days from work or trying to see this on opening day or opening weekend?

Japan didn't support King Kong '05, D-War, Cloverfield, and Pacific Rim. Two out of four of them (KK and PR) are universally deserving of support. As kaiju fans, do we honestly give a "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" what a country thinks when they can't even support the genre they helped raise. And besides that, I'm fairly sure the people saying he's too fat aren't real Japanese G-Fans, but common folk who believe Godzilla has always looked like a bipedal, reptilian rat like he did in G:FW.

Aren't these comments taken mostly from 2chan, which is just the Japanese equivalent of 4chan, anyway? Hardly a place to go for an accurate assessment of opinion.

Though I will agree that Japan seems to have mostly grown bored of giant monsters, and I don't particularly value Japanese opinions on the matter very much as a result.

Haruo Nakajima approves, so that's pretty much the only opinion that matters as far as Japanese people go
