Well, I mean he is huge lets be honest.

But him being fat never bothered me much. I just prefer the strong look a sumo wrestler gives off as seen in Kingoji than I do the Heisei era, where Godzilla could barely move around. Godzilla 62 could do suplexes and dropkicks to King Kong!

Godzilla 2014 has a physique like Scott Norton. Or maybe Choshu Riki in his old age. Sure, he's big, but he looks like he could mess you up.

Also, Japan has a weird idea of what is considered Fat.



This character design in this show, is considered fat, and is teased and called fat. Japanese viewers of the show Kawai Complex think she's fat.

Go figure.

He actually looks lighter than the 90's G to me. No idea why they feel so justified with this fat talk.

What worries me, personally, is how small the head still seems to look by comparison with the body in that picture. It's much bigger than that maquette picture we saw with Edwards not long ago, but still a little weird looking. Maybe it really is just me.

My only complaint with that pic is that I feel his arms are a bit too long. It might be just the fact that his head is bowed down a bit..

Matt posted a stitched-together image of that same shot (back when all we had was the Wondercon footage... oh yeah... two weeks ago) and even then I thought he looked a little odd...

I think it's going to depend on the shot, honestly. In this case he's rearing back and I guess the rendering of the CG model in that pose just makes it seem weird.

I've also noticed that his snout appears longer/more T-Rex-like in some of those "roaring at the screen" shots.
