Marvel has done a really good job of "fan pandering" and still making decent films overall.

It's easy to do both. Too bad Edwards seems to want to diss longtime fans and just focus on the casual moviegoer. But I do suppose that's where the box-office is.

As with some other posters, I had also forgotten about Takarada's cameo. But it doesn't matter to me whether it was cut or not. Takarada is pretty much relegated to cameos now anyhow. The last significant role I can think of that wasn't just put in because of name and facial recognition is "Ebirah, Horror of the Deep"/"Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster".

Personally, I don't care for cameos. I mean, it's nice but it can also take you out of the film. And having Takarada cameo in the film isn't a huge dealbreaker. I'd rather have a good, cohesive film than have a scene with an obligatory cameo of someone only Japanese fans and diehard fans would even recognize. Although, those are just assumptions, whether or not his cameo would have been extremely noticeable or not is to be seen (at some point in time).

If it was cut for a good reason so be it. I do hope it does show up in either a Director's Cut version or Extended version on DVD and the footage just doesn't disappear into the mist....

P.S. Is anyone finding the wait now beginning to grow unbearable....I want it May 15th NOW! LOL

Everyone so far is all like "OH NO! THIS SUCKS!!!" without knowing why it was deleted. Perhaps his role was to have English language spoken and it just didn't flow well. Honestly, Latitude Zero wasn't his best showing when he had to speak English. Or, on the polar opposite side, perhaps they're already prepping Godzilla 2 and want to give him a bigger role opposed to a mere cameo. At this point, any explanation is possible. Yes, it sucks. But I don't think it'll ruin the movie and the "hardcore fans" believing it will are just giving us all a bad reputation of a bunch of online, little bitches.

So for all you loudmouth whiners, do the rest of us a favor and please shut the hell up.

I was 10 when GINO came out. I loved all the Godzilla related stuff that the movie brought about: unreleased movies coming out, VHS copies of most of the movies widely available, Godzilla novels and children's books, Dark Horse Godzilla comics collections...
