Godzilla (2014) Part Three (NON-SPOILER DISCUSSION)

Disappointing, but if it didn't work in the film then it's better off on the cutting room floor. Edwards has to think of this movie as a film, not a fan service project. If he was watching footage and the cameo of Takarada came off as looking like a random shot of "just some Asian dude" to the eyes of a genreal viewer then the film may be better off without it. This is a movie for EVERYONE, not just Godzilla fans, and those few fans who don't realize that are buttholes.

I'd been wondering where Takarada's cameo was going to supposedly fit. I'd have assumed it'd have been a reactionary shot to the destruction caused by the crashing helicopter, right outside those giant windows at the airport. However, that scene with how it's been edited doesn't really have room for something like that.

I have not really seen any negativity regarding the cameo cut. It's practically nonexistent on here and TohoKingdom. There is a bit on IMDB but nothing too bad. And I have yet to see any reactions on Godzilla-Movies.

Anyways personally I'm not phased by the cameo cut. Assuming the rumor is true(which it probably is), It won't affect the quality of the film. I'm pretty sure Legendary and Gareth know what they are doing.

The iMDB boards are flipping out over the cameo being cut. Someone said it's a very bad sign and that the movie might suck now... Like really?

I'm confused by guys like Mac and mechaghidrah, who constantly whine and nitpick everything to death and then get upset when others challenge them with a snarky comment. Get over it. Grow some thick skin. You've been incessantly negative the entire time and it basically reads like an eyesore whenever you post something about the movie. You're welcome to your opinion and it's completely fine you don't like certain things, but if your distaste for this movie is so large I often wonder why you post in this section to begin with, unless of course, you're just intending to troll. No disrespect intended, I just find it far worse than anything Shin said (and you'll find he's fun to have a few snarky comments with..just run with it).

As for anyone who is legitimately upset about a cameo being cut...really? It's a cameo that didn't have to even be considered to begin with. I'm disappointed, but some people are so entitled I guess nothing will actually please them. "Oh no, 10 seconds of footage was cut so now the movie will suck!"

The movie would suck with or without the cameo. If it fails, it will do so for reasons that have nothing to do with a cameo.

Honestly, with all of the new trailers for the movie and the hype surrounding it, I kind of forgot that Akira Takarada was supposed to have a cameo in it. I was just excited for the film itself. Like everyone said, its rather disappointing since its friggin Akira Takarada. But it won't damage the film in any way if it was just a brief cameo. The film still looks on track to be pretty awesome, so I don't think people should get too upset over it. Besides, chances are it will be in the Blu-ray/DVD later this year. I'd still be content with that.

We still have a whole movie to look forward to. People shouldn't can the film for one omission, even one as meaningful to fans as this.

When this movie is on home video, what I really look forward to is doing some kind of edit that utilizes all the old Toho sound effects. The foot steps, the tank guns, the explosions. Everything. It'll probably be similar to Final Warriors. Though the intention would not to be funny.
