Can't retailers get MAJORLY fined for breaking street date? I know a few people who have worked in stores that have gotten in some huge trouble over that.

Well I jumped on the grenade and decided to buy the blu rays from Rightstuf. I need to start selling some of the DVDs I replaced. I'm running out of space!

^Zoom in and you'll see the difference.

That shot of the washed-up castaways in Sea Monster is a good indicator of just how much more detail we're getting.

So maybe it's just been too long since I've watched the movie, but when does Kamacuras show up in GvsGigan?

The screenshots look awesome! It's surprising sometimes to see how big the shortcomings can be of something that was state of the art just a decade ago. Compared to the blurays, the DVDs are chock full of artifacts, macro blocking, and other little nasties. The edge enhancement on the old discs is atrocious! (But I've always known that, edge enhancement halos were one of the biggest issues with the old sony discs to begin with)

We should be thankful Sony made good transfers when they had the films; it'd be interesting to see a comparison between the DAM Blu and the stock shots from it in the Gigan Blu.

Just started watching Godzilla vs The Sea Monster and man oh man! Krakken knocked it out of the park! The print is beautiful. Much improved over the already solid Sony DVD. Can't wait to watch Smog Monster and Gigan!

Why are Toho's masters for their crown jewel franchise in such poor shape?!

For those who have the Blu-Rays and the older TriStar DVDs, which do you think has the superior video and audio quality? I was going to get rid of my TriStar DVDs once I got the Kraken ones, but the review on Toho Kingdom said the video quality wasn't quite up to par with the Sony DVDs. Is this true?
