I finished all of ROE Vol 1 last night.

Loved it. In was surprised at Destroyah's new origin. But still, I thought it was great, can't wait for Vol 2.

Initial thoughts on the previews:

- Awesome to finally see Baragon...I especially like his destruction of the Triumph de Arc in Paris...nice little nod to DAM and he finally fulfills the role that was always intended for him. I really hope we'll see Gorosaurus on a similar appearance soon...would love to see him take Kiryu out of commission with his kangaroo kick

- Nice to see his fire beam brought back as well, an aspect of Baragon that was sorely missed in GMK.

- Yay, another appearance by Kiryu...zzzzz....zzzzz....

I'm pretty much sick to death of MG at this point, regardless of whatever incarnation they use. MG has basically been in every single damn IDW series in the same exact role...for the new mini, they should employ a "no MG" clause (unless it's Showa MG). Nevertheless, his battle with Baragon seems very exciting...let's hope they expand this role (kaiju-capturing for Monster Island) to include Mogera and JJ to keep things fresh instead of always automatically reverting to MG/Kiryu in these scenarios.

Overall, looks like another fun issue to look forward to...

Little touches like Baragon in Paris and using the 03' Kiryu design for his return appearance are the reasons I love this series so much. Little touches that show knowledge of the franchise history and utilize those to create a new narrative that feels in line with the franchise that spawned these comic books.

I really don't see a low card jobber like Gorosaurus taking out Kiryu. I mean, what happened last issue didn't totally surprise me because of how popular and vicious that pair could be. But Gorosaurus? hah.

I like the idea of collecting the series. I wouldn't mind KoM getting the same treatment and then I'd be able to reduce from 6 tpbs to 2 collections
