With the exception of the kaiju films, I only buy blu rays that are severely discounted. I refuse to pay more than $8 per disc unless its something I really really want. It really is easy to be able to afford a collection if your frugal about it and I feel like if I don't get them in HD then I am not putting my 50" 1080p TV to use.

Single blu-rays for $25? Yikes, where you seeing that at? I never pay over $20 for a BD, most of the time it's under $15. I see BD/DVD combos for $20 - $25 around here.

Kain I work at walmart and the cheapest BD player we have is $70 not $35.

As for BDs most of the BDs I see coming out are indeed BD/DVD/Digital Copies NOT BD/Digital or DVD/Digital, there's a few releases that are like that but for the most part most new releases are BD/DVD/Digital or just DVD and Digital.

As for pricing the most expensive new BD I've seen unless it's a 3D set is $21.99 everthing else tends to be about $19.99 whereas DVD is about $14.99 its first week that's a $5-$6. Finally this might be a regional thing but my local stores the BD section tends to be larger than the DVD section again this could be regional.

So if that is the case (as far as DVD vs Blu-Ray goes), then is there plans to do these Sony re-releases on DVD as well?

I also haven't "upgraded" yet.
Mostly due to the cost.

Sure you can get cheap Refurbished Blu-Ray players for about $40.
However you still need a HDTV that is large enough to notice the difference (about 40").
A decent 7.1 surround system & speakers, and of course Blu-Rays to play.

I work at Fry's and even now your still talking about $1000 at least for that stuff.
That's not even involving that 3D stuff or the 4K stuff.

Not new, but you CAN get a Bluray player for like 30-40 bucks...

and then honestly, I own maybe 100 or more blu-rays and have spent over $20 on...MAYBE ten of them. The plethora of good movies you can get for under $10 on blu is kinda staggering. I just got Inglourious Basterds for $3.25. SHIPPED.

It's cool pkmatrix.

What Best Buy has done is terrible. When I worked there we had 4 long rows of BDs with usually 6-7 columns per row and then 3 New Release rows with 4 columns per row, and finally, 8 rows of DVDs with 7-8 columns per row. The last time I walked into my old store a few months ago, they had 6 rows in total of combined BDs and DVDs with 5 columns per row while New Release is now on the other end of the store and on an island display. WTF?!

My precious anime section went from 19 shelves to 2.

I buy most of my DVDs at Target. I will also buy them at Fry's when I'm in the area.

Our Best Buy(s) in this area are awful when it comes to DVDs.

I was hesitant to go Blu-Ray until I got a new DVD player, and since they played regular DVDs I bought one. Now I buy Blu-rays for new releases but they are usually the combo packs since we still have regular DVD players in the house. I've gone back and bought Blu-rays of some of my favorite films. But I still buy regular DVDs.

Yeah, most of the Best Buys near me either don't have an anime section.
Or they consolidated it down to one small section at the end of TV shows.

Of course since I work at Fry's there's really no need to go into that store.
Since our anime section is about 18' long, and that's JUST DVD.
Blu-Ray anime has an 8' section.

Our Blu-Ray section is about 3 aisles.

As for the earlier stuff about costs, if I was going to go Blu-Ray I would want the best set-up possible.

Anyhow, just curious if these will get a DVD or not.
Since I do have all of these on DVD already, I would just like certain ones that they fixed the problems on.

I could have sworn I read another reason that Best Buy reduced its home video division is because of video games eating a large chunk out of home video sales as well. Movie sales are down where as video game sales are up.

Eric sadly these will only be on BD so if you want the corrected versions it's probably time to upgrade to a BD player unless you're content with what's already presented on DVD.

Thanks, kinda suspected that Sony (one of the "inventors" of Blu-Ray) would do that.
Maybe if I get a much cheaper place to live, then I might upgrade.

BTW do you ever post on GameFAQs anymore?

Not really I'll post when I have a computer question here and there but other than that I rarely go to GameFAQs.

Around Black Friday BD players should be down into the $30 range or less so that might be a good time to get a BD player.
