I know a lot of people are saying that they should really show one of those MUTO monsters soon, to show the general audience that it's not a solo Godzilla film, but honestly, I think they've pretty much got the audience sold at this point. I think whether or not they think this is going to be a solo Godzilla film, there's been enough buzz around this movie to get the casual movie going audiences talking. Now I'd love to see some fotage of his opponents too, but I also like the idea of waiting to be surprised in theaters.

I don't see what the big deal is about re-using old Godzilla monsters. I'd be excited to see what a modern and polished take on the likes of Mothra, KG, MG, Anguirus, etc. would look like. I hope that this movie builds general interest in the franchise and using an established character will definitely do that. ("Oh, you really liked King Ghidorah little Timmy, maybe you should check out HIS FIRST MOVIE!!!")

Even if us fans might be sick of seeing Mothra and MG, the average US movie-goer is only going to know the basics. It's kind of like being upset that Man of Steel used General Zod again, or the recent Batman Trilogy used Scarecrow, Joker, Bane, and Catwoman again.

I got no problems with old Godzilla monsters, I just don't think it is completely necessary for a first entry.

Mothra and Rodan would require some level of backstory to be put into this world, so I can't help but laugh at anyone expecting to see Mothra or Rodan.

Though that flying Muto does look like Gyaos...

The new trailer was cool. My favorite shot was Godzilla's spikes reflecting in he windows of the bus. The fog shot was pretty slick as well.

Considering what we know about the MUTOs, it wouldn't have been a big change to make them the Meganulans. That would have given the film some real nerd cred for using an obscure monster, and would have been a great segue into a Rodan character.

I think some monsters could do the transition into a new generation of Godzilla pretty well. Motha, Rodan, Angilas, and the ones based on real creatures would be easy to do. Stuff like Gigan and King Ghidorah would be a bit more... Difficult.

The studio has 0 reason to show more at this point. People won't shut up about it so they think they did their jobs.

They are cross promoting, which is something Pacific Rim never did. That Godzilla snickers commercial was a smart move on their part.

Remember, we are the Godzilla fandom. One of the strangest and overbearing fandoms out there, We would rather burn our fandom to the ground than get something that is different from our expectations.
