I know most people are counting on everyone involved to discount or virtually destroy the EU, but placing this film 30 years after Jedi makes it conveniently just after the end of the Yuuzhan Vong (sp?) War. I think a Trilogy made out of the "Legacy" 9 book series would be interesting, but then again, there is about a 5 year period prior to that that is virtually untouched. A Nice place to begin a new trilogy that while may not referrence too much of the EU, dosen't have to destroy it either.

Also Having Dave Filoni (who is a proud supporter of the EU) fully involved in a new Animated series for Disney, I dont think he would continue to support a franchise that basically would negate any of the work he's done to date.

Also ther 30 year date is perfect since Hamill, Fisher, & Ford will have aged about 32-33 years IRL when this film is released

That's kind of surprising, since it seemed that he and either Fox or Lucas Arts were kind of fighting and barred him from any future official Star Wars conventions. But since it's now all Disney that might have changed.

Still, I just wonder how his health will affect the role. Since most random "I met Peter Mayhew" photos have him in a wheelchair it seems and he walks with a lightsaber cane (that caused a tizzy at some airport recently if memory serves).

I actually wouldn't mind if his health issues/age affected his performance somewhat. Wookiees must get old too, I think it would add a nice touch to the character. Hopefully they'll age the suit a bit to reflect the 32-ish years that will have gone by as well.
