I didn't own a VHS copy of Godzilla VS The Smog Monster growing up but had rented it a few times, and when I got the DVD of vs Hedorah, I did notice the song wasn't translated... but beyond that, I didn't have a clue. I never noticed any difference in the Sea Monster DVD compared to VHS, either. Maybe I was a particularly unobservant child, I don't know, but as long as its dubbed into English it was never an issue for me. Even more recently, I had always seen the praises of the DAM AIP dub being sung, but didn't get to hear it for myself until the Media Blaster release. I don't think I could tell any difference at all from the AIP and International. Maybe I'm just a terrible fan.

i grew up with VHS, so i had no idea there was more than one dub for most films. In some cases i didn't know there was more than one title for the films (Gigan and Ebirah) and some films i thought were the same things (Godzilla's Revenge = Son of Godzilla, Terror of Mechagodzilla = Godzilla vs the Cosmic Monster).. i remember being thrilled to find out that GTTHM and Monster Zero were two separate films (only to later find out IOAM was just MZ)

Toho owns the rights to the dubs... but don't actually have copies of them on-hand.

On a brief glance, one of the images of Gigan on the back of the box looked to be from GFW...and I briefly thought, "Uh-oh, it's gonna be the Godzilla 2000 pop-up fiasco all over again!"

Hasn't Gigan always used the Toho International Dubb for all it's releases here in the US?

I ended up preordering these from RightStuf during a sale in the beginning of March. I got an email this morning that they have shipped, and USPS tracking shows that they should be delivered tomorrow (but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't get delivered until Saturday). I know of several other people who also ordered from RightStuf and have also received confirmation of shipments. I'll skim over them once I get them in, and probably take some screen-caps of them.
