Anyone else here notice that the Godzilla Snickers commercial is now airing regularly on TV? I suspect that we'll start seeing the Godzilla toys in about a couple of weeks as one of those links to the toy images mentions that the street date is March 17th?

Hi, could I ask a few questions?
1. Is the Jakks toy going to be sold on Amazon starting March 17? Is it even listed yet.on Amazon?
2. Will there be a similar big MUTO toy?

Thanks. :)

I don't think it's necessarily different. It was alluded in an earlier script he was somehow changed by his exposure to the new, modern nuclear weapons, but he was always similar to what he is now. Maybe he was smaller or whatever. We'll have to find out. He may still be a dinosaur that survived in a time period (after the KT impact) that created a vacuum for biodiversity and knowing that the Earth was more radioactive in the time of dinosaurs, you have large amounts of radioactive materials in the crust and mantle being flung into the atmosphere. So that could be that time period.

Here's my theory:

he Earth truly had a higher radiation level in times past due to higher amounts of isotopes in the soil before they became denatured into their "normal states", thus life had to deal with higher radiation levels. The age of the dinosaurs was ended with a large asteroid striking the earth, kicking up a debris cloud from damaging the crust and upper mantle. This created a massive cloud of radioactive debris and forced some creatures into hiding either underwater or underground. Godzilla's ancestors were probably some Abelisaurid or Tyranosaurid species located near water and basically sought refuge in the sea. That would still provide prey and shelter and when needed they could make landfall from time to time to raid for corpses. The extra radiation affected the creatures' cells and they adapted, getting bigger to accommodate a living radiological reactor(only way a creature could be a living reactor is if they were huge) and also their ocean-going habitat also accommodated such. The issue with square-cubed rule(you could argue with it due to the dinosaur paradox) is also null because of the radiological nature basically reenforced the molecular bonds of the creatures and they also develop graphene internally to help. During the few mya after the end of the dinosaurs a (the MUTO sound more like a bizarre arachnid-morph to me) type of parasitic Chelicerata evolves to fill in a gap in multiple niches in the short term and they hunt after creatures like Godzilla. The Earth's denaturing of radioactive elements and the constant arms-race between the two species drives them to extinction. Godzilla could be a mutation of said species that was influenced by modern nuclear weapons. What do you guys think?

Ah, thanks. Anyway, is March 17th the date stores like Toysrus are allowed to start selling them? And why isn't it listed on Amazon yet, or is it?

I'd love to see a well articulated muto figure, especially a large scale version.

And glad to see the trailer has been getting so much attention.

Saw the trailer this afternoon in front of 300 (much better than I expected...Eva Green was a terrific villain). It got silence, then a few laughs when the title came on, and then the couple behind me was wondering if you would hardly see Godzilla in the movie since you didn't see him much in the trailer.

IMO, you need a money shot or two to really get the casual fan/moviegoer interested, and there are none in the trailer.

The next trailer will need to show more of Godzilla to convince people that this monster is much, much different than GINO. BTW, back in 98, the GINO trailer got a much more vocally enthusiastic reaction in the theater than this did.

I wouldn't worry about it Ernest. Gyaos has been a doom and gloomer since day one.

Truthfully I can't recall too many trailers getting reactions from audiences in all the years I've been going to the movies.

If there is a reaction it's usually comedies and that's just laughs at humorous scenes that are shown. The lack of response by the audience doesn't mean much.

The ONLY time lack of reaction, good or bad, anywhere in entertainment is in American Pro Wrestling and Mexican Wrestling. Nuff said.

(Japanese wrestling crowds are a lot more quiet).

Movie trailers, are a whole other world.
