Godzilla (2014) Part Three (NON-SPOILER DISCUSSION)

Some Q & A with Gareth Edwards from that London screening printed on IGN. (Note: that last paragraph just has me very, very curious)

Gareth also participated in a Q&A, wherein we learned…

-Edwards liked the fact that the 1954 was a serious take on the monster movie, and that’s what he wants to replicate.

-The central story is about man vs nature – if you mess with nature, you’re going to lose.

-It’s also about a family that’s torn apart by an apparent natural disaster that took place in Japan 15 years ago.

-Gareth hadn’t seen Breaking Bad, but wanted to work with Bryan Cranston because of his work in Malcolm in the Middle and an episode of Airwolf.

-Godzilla himself is 350 feat high, making him the biggest Godzilla yet seen onscreen.

-That size was chosen so that the monster would be tall enough to be seen from wherever you are in a city, and small enough that he can still be obscured.

We also learned a plot point that makes the film 400% more awesome, but Gareth swore us all to secrecy so we’re not going to spoil it here. But trust us, when this information comes out, you’re going to be impressed.

Godzilla is released on May 16.

As someone who enjoyed hours of fun as a child, with a Mattel shogun warrior Godzilla with no accurate spines and a cheap tongue fire effect, I would have "killed" to have this new Godzilla toy at that same time. It roars and spits fire.

That's cool and I may have to end up getting that.


Don't worry, I'm sure there's plenty of adult 2014 figures coming our way.

I wish the Jakks Pacific toy was releasing this month. I NEED a gigantic Godzilla figure in my life.

Not even sure I want this. I mean I'm noteven really a collector type. I don't collect(unless it involves Super Mario) but the appeal to collectinga bunch of toys and letting them sit there and collect dust and take up space isn't...appealing.
