And where's GAMMERA THE INVINCIBLE? The old widescreen VHS is still the only legit release.

Hmmmmmmmmm, this is an interesting set and it would cut my shelf space down from 5 DVD cases to 2 BD ones, but are they seriously cramming 4 movies onto one BD disc? I guess that would make sense since Shout was cramming two movies on one disc and that was on DVD, while a BD holds five times that amount, so there would still be extra room to spare. Of course, I'm honestly not the biggest Showa Gamera fan, so owning the Shout DVDs and the MST3K set might be good enough for me.

EDIT: OH, it's still lossy audio, so there is no reason to upgrade.

4 films on a dual layer BD is not a problem. I have several BDs that are dual layer and have four movies. They look great.

Great news that Mill Creek is doing this! Can't wait to get them.

Holy crap, it's kinda refreshing to see Tyler actually defending a release. We need more of this side of you, man!

Back on topic: I'm legit excited to own every Gamera film on English-friendly Blu-ray. The Showa films have such rich, interesting visuals.

I forwarded to Mill Creek some of the comments and concerns posted here and on other forums. Here is what they had to say about the number of films per Blu-ray disc...

There should be no concern with us including four films on a Blu-ray disc. We’re using dual-layered Blu-rays and achieving the highest possible bitrate (with room to spare) to accommodate less than 6 hours of content. They’re going to look better than anyone has ever seen before.

...and the lack of English dubs...

Because we did not have access to dub tracks for all films, we chose to just use original language tacks and subtitles to be completely consistent. One thing to note about the subtitles is that we have re-QCed them and fans should find some of the errors corrected when compared to the previous releases

Mill Creek is awesome.

Let's beg them to release Mothra, Battle in Outer Space, and H-Man on Blu.

I'd love AIP versions, dubs, features, and the rest of the works any fan would die for on the releases...but my god, man...we are going to have the original, Japanese versions of every Gamera film ever made on region 1 blu-rays. Who the hell ever thought that was going to happen?!

Of course I'd love to have more, but I'm MORE than satisfied with what we are ending up with. :)

That's good news but I'm still on the fence about these. I would have prefreed to have the dubbs on there but I guess it's better than nothing. Maybe I'll pick these up when they go on sale.
