Oh man, that was awesome!!! :D I loved the lines "All those nuclear tests in the pacific? Not tests." - "They were trying to kill it." Really gives you a sense of how powerful Godzilla is if they've been attempting to nuke him multiple times already and still couldn't get the job done.

And yeah, like Jelly I also didn't think they were going to be full-on having the original film as part of the continuity of this one since that would have gone against what they said they were going for with the whole "what if Godzilla suddenly appeared for real?" approach, but I also didn't expect that certain people in the government/military did indeed know about him for decades and had been trying to kill him. That's very cool, since again, it really gives you a sense of his power and level of threat.

And man, there are just sooooo many parts of that trailer where I just stopped and thought "yep, that's Godzilla." Swimming underneath a fleet of aircraft carriers and battleships, nukes in the pacific, people running away from him through the city streets, underground lairs with giant monster bones, soldiers in the jungle discovering something radioactive, various destroyed cities. Even that shot near the beginning of someone watching destruction going on just across a small body of water (looks to be Japan judging by the shape of the roof of the building on the right, the small bridge, the greenery and the lettering on the van on the left) has the same sort of framing as any number of composite destruction shots from the Heisei movies.

And again as some people have said, I love that it's still just glimpses here and there, albeit very, very cool ones, unlike some trailers that seem to just show you everything. Still leaves loads to look forward to. And of course that Bryan Cranston voiceover from yesterday is indeed awesome with footage to accompany it, as is Ken Watanabe's final line. And context for the "too lengthy" roar - it was blended into an 'end of trailer suspense' theme!

So, so cool. I think I'm going to go watch it again...

The scene with the MUTO leg is from inside the compound where it was held I believe. All the men are in protective suits, not military fatigues.

THat's certainly something, and I don't want to discount it....but I do wonder about non-fans. The unwashed, ignorant masses, who've little to no familiarity with Godzilla.

I've seen a few people picking up on that "leg" not being Godzilla and wondering which other monster it might be, so some people are certainly noticing it. But right now I don't think they need to sell the MUTO yet, just focus on making it a really great-looking Godzilla movie, regardless of whether or not it has any other monsters in it. I imagine the final trailer will have more focus on character and story specifics, as well as probably showing off the MUTOs (I could see them saving that Comic-Con airport scene for the end of the final trailer, perhaps).

Notice how warm and bright the old footage is? Love that contrast, like vintage Hawaiian movie images compared to the rest of the movie which thankfully has a wonderful spectrum of color and not just some generic color wash over the whole thing.

Also love Godzilla painted on the old atomic bomb they dropped on him....

Much of what Snowden said is in this trailer, give him credit it was not BS.

Those seem to be the comments that *are* coming from people who haven't been following the movie outside of the trailers though, and in all fairness, if it hasn't come across that well yet that there are going to be more monsters in the film it's because that hasn't been the focus of any of the marketing yet. Right now they're just focusing on making it look like a damn cool Godzilla movie. Better to get people excited about the idea of a Godzilla movie - any kind of Godzilla movie - first before anything else, and they seem to be doing a pretty good job of that, while still holding plenty of stuff back to be surprised by later.

We'll still get at least one more full trailer before release, and the last ones are always the most story detail-heavy. No doubt the MUTO aspect will be more played up a bit more then.
