Remember when it used to be six or seven months on average between a movie's theatrical release date and the time when it came out on home video? In 2004 there seemed to be an industry-wide shift toward a four-month turnaround, sometimes even less than that, and it's been that way ever since. The first time I recall thinking "wow, that was quick" was for Ang Lee's Hulk in 2003, although X2 still took just short of seven months to hit DVD that same year.
I wonder what the reason for the change was. It did seem to coincide with the death of the VHS format, if that means anything.
