Gills are super noticeable. I still like em.

If they are purely aesthetic I don't have that big of a problem with them: I'm still holding out (though maybe in denial) that they are in fact just a textured scale. On the other hand if there's a water scene where they leak bubbles or their glow when he breathes atomic breath I am REALLY going to have a large hang up over this design.

Getting hung up on the believability of gills when Godzilla has done things like dance and fly seems pretty stupid to me.

The spikes on the dorsal plates could have could vary a little more, in my opinion. They all point back instead of pointing out (like a maple leaf) as is usual. Not a big deal though. Still recognizably Godzilla's.

But it does make it mad "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" annoying bitching about something that most Godzilla fans don't give a "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" about. IN MY OPINION, it's splitting hairs in the most annoying fashion. It's that kind of an attitude and a way of going about things that makes non fans not want to get interested in franchises like this. Because there's always that 1/10th percentile that annoys the crap out of them, so they leave and it's just the same fans over and over again. And yes, your opinion is in the minority, go on nearly any place of discussion and try and count how many people are bitching about his feet. Again, it's great and admirable to have different opinions, but the way you are going about it makes you look and sound more like that one guy who can't be pleased or that party pooper nobody likes.

Boy I don't want to get into the whole gills thing AGAIN, but I'll just say that complaining that it hasn't been in one of the previous films seems pretty wrong-headed to me. I mean, reserve the right to dislike the gills all you want, but to complain about a design element being on this that wasn't in one of the previous 28 films means you more than likely are essentially picking on whatever your favorite design is and just making the exception for that one because you LIKE the change. Godzilla designs have always been a dynamic, fluid, changing thing: like it or lump it.
