We had a discussion about that pic earlier in this thread. And over at TK, Arbok claims to "," but he isn't more specific than that. It would be nice to see a book scan or, again, direct word from August or another authority. I wouldn't necessarily doubt that August has said it. I would like to see or know where, to clear up the confusion.

There are a plethora of screen shots of deleted scenes from SPX Toho films that aren't in TohoScope. Just saying. Not sure why that's the reason, but whatever. Why would I just make something like that up?

Even for those that aren't super familiar with the '62 suit, the one in the photo is obviously not the suit made for LEGENDARY GIANT BEAST WOLFMAN VS. GODZILLA. I suggest looking at screen grabs from this article, and side views of the original '62 suit, and comparing the two.

Seeing as how fast these suit rotted back in those days (and that it looks brand new, and doesn't shows any signs of degradation), it's painfully obvious the photo was taken at some point during the production of KING KONG VS. GODZILLA.

I really wish the Heisei series had the budget to bring something like this to life. It reminds me of the Helicarrier, but purely water based. The idea that G-Force would have parked a research vessel over the remains of Mecha KG really makes a lot of sense. It would have explained why a Rodan enthusiast would have been able to create a flying robot in his spare time: Technology on the base is quickly advancing due to the research on the Futurean tech.

A plot point like this could have further explained how Japan grew to dominate the world so much as the Futureans said it would: They control the technology and can create giant robots to control the rest of the world. A self fulfilling prophecy that the Futureans made possible.

It's really frustrating seeing something like this and realizing how cool the Heisei series might have been. I would totally be behind an animated series that could have developed some of these concepts which were too expensive to bring to life in a live-action film.
