Even without the deep human story the current film has, this draft sounds like it would have been special in its own way.

Something I'm curious about...who attacks the train? Godzilla or Mutos?

Mentioned in another thread that the train is being torn in half by the claws of a Muto beast.

Stopped here on my lunch hour to day to poke around a bit. Really liking everything I'm reading here. :-)

Looks like someone finally grew a pair big enough to not only do a great Godzilla film, but one that treats the source material with respect rather than looking down on it or thumbing their noses at it. This is stuff that CAN be done seriously and actually be enjoyable to a WIDE audience, not just a bunch of basement dwelling, pot-bellied, combover, nerd virgins. WB & Legendary seem to be daring to take the whole idea to another level that still works within the original concepts but rachets them up several notches, injecting doses of plausible science to make it all the more entertaining and believeable instead of the usual monster movie psuedo-science; enough of a touch of reality to make you scratch your head and wonder "could this really... ?" On top of that, Edwards is ambitioius enough to want you to gasp in genuine fear & dread at the devistation (ala Shinjuku in G3) such creatures in the real world would cause, all while you're being entertained by top-shelf FX that give us a level of spectacle we fans have up to now only dreamed of seeing some day. Apparently, "someday" is May 16th, 2014.

I think it's the Muto's claw as opposed to it's head biting down on the train, but yeah-- definitely the Muto attacking the train either way.

My only fear is that the rewrite by darabont will flood it with just human drama. I want a perfect balance of it

Hey Snowden, I've got a question about something you mentioned before, I'm not sure where to post this so I guess I'll try here.

Ok you said that when Godzilla fights the military he comes out with "surface damage" but no real injuries, when you say "surface damage" what do you mean? do you mean just that his scales are scratched up a bit? I'm hoping that they can't make him bleed, but I would just like to know.

Told ya.

This is maybe... One third of the military confrontation.

And the BIG battle hasn't even started.

It sounds awesome, but it is a bit vague looking on what it means by battle-scarred, I'm hoping it just means his scales and outer armor will just be scratched, and jacked up and not that they are able to make him bleed or anything like that.

No blood is mentioned until he actually faces off with the mutos later.

Nope.

He seems to save that for opponents that he really hates.

It seems to be more of his signature move and less of his ultimate doom weapon as written.

One thing I want changed from the script is Godzilla's breath. I want it to be used more than twice and I want it to he like his normal breath and not a napalm-like breath.

I'm with you on that.

I really won't be 100% satisfied until I see Godzilla's blue doom ray done up Independence Day style.

Ironic: I suspect that might've been one of the reasons that those guys were picked back in '98, and they didn't even capitalize on it.

This script was written by fans. I don't mean it is fake. I mean Edwards & Borenstein etc. are true fans. That San Francisco Bay military vs. Godzilla scene is exactly what I would have written as a fan. I think we are in good hands.

I agree on that point. Would be the perfect scene for him to unleash his atomic hellfire breath for the first time.

Maybe he does in the final edit.....

It could come off as a rip of 1985's scene too so perhaps this was done in a manner to show his ability to withstand massive firepower saving the atomic breath for a more desperate situation or even perhaps since this was supposed to be a creature from long ago, he didn't necessarily have that ability and through rage lets off his first atomic blast and realizes he's got a new weapon to use when it's available.

I've always wanted a scene where Godzilla blasts his atomic breath for the first time and wanted it to be surprising to him, have him kind of recoil with a slightly charred muzzle that sheds immediately through his regenerative abilities and then give a look like....'OH it's on bitches!!"

Was never a fan of the "beam on demand" concept, it should be something that takes a bit of time to recharge so that it's use is specific to the need.

But that's just my thoughts and that's all they are.

That sounds like a good idea. I kinda think depending on how much power he puts into the beam it should weaken him a little.
