This is the latest bunch... The first three Quatermass serials and the Hammer movies based on those serials. Plus the Shintaro the Samurai complete series which was on super reduced sale during the holidays.

That's 10 seasons of Shintaro, 3 DVDs per season, plus recreations of vintage trading/playing cards.

More Blockbuster $1 purchases:

^And I took a pic and uploaded to facebook of EVERYTHING I've bought at Blockbuster over the course of the past few weeks and there's two who's titles I can't read and I can't remember, but MAYBE I've posted them up on here already...?

AND THEN, a whole slew of DVDs:

I'm sure most of this stuff is TERRIBLE, but given that the following are well worth the $1:
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Survival of the Dead
The FP
Bug
Burrowers
Mulberry Street
The Score
and some of these have solid reviews (Bernie, Solitary Man, Lars & the Real Girl, Safety not Guaranteed, Winnebago Man, Dark City) and I'm sure I'll get some enjoyment out of at least a few of these other crappy horror releases (Hypothermia has Michael Rooker, ABCs of Death is a 26-installment anthology, Mutant Chronicles has Thomas Jane, Ron Perlman and John Malkovich)
I feel pretty satisfied.
You should have seen me trying to walk around the store though...

I just picked up the Criterion Godzilla blu ray which now means I have enough copies of Godzilla/Godzilla KOTM that I can start passing them out as party favors.
I also picked up Hobo with a Shotgun blu ray. I love this movie. Of all the new pseudo grindhouse films to come out, this is easily my favorite. Rutger Hauer, The plague, the cinematography, soundtrack. Everything about this film is amazing.

Moon Blu ray. Duncan Jones is one of my favorite directors. Moon was my first experience with him and its one of my favorite scifi films of the past 25 years. Sam Rockwell is a great actor. The story keeps me on the edge of my seat and Kevin Spacey was great as the anti-Hal 9000. This will go along great with my copy of Source Code which is also a great film.

^LOVE Moon to pieces, and I definitely agree on Hobo with a Shotgun....except maybe I like Planet Terror more, but Hobo is WAY better than Machete.

I loved Planet Terror but to me HwaSG just feels more authentic as a low budget film from the 70s/80s. It specifically feels like something Troma would have made except its actually good. (not that I don't appreciate Troma films) My favorite scenes are specifically the ones with The Plague. Rumor has it the director wanted to make a sequel focusing only on the Plague. I haven't heard anything about it for a few years though.
