Just spitballing here but do we know how large Godzilla and the Mutos were that were discovered in the ice? Here's my theory that they are symbiotic creatures from the past but the Mutos had the advantage. Forward to bombing Godzilla he changes dramatically and the nuclear reactor event Cranston is blamed for exposes the contained Mutos allowing them to escape. We know they can burrow out of containment and therefore are probably the cause of the sinkholes. Now altered themselves they seek Godzilla once again but despite their previous advantage the changes in Godzilla prove to be the difference in the shift in power between the creatures.

How are you guys liking the description of the breath? Napalmy?

I was hoping for more of the blue doom ray personally, but I like the idea of it being a little more like burning plasma.

^Well, I always preferred the burning/melting/gaseous/liquid spray version of Godzilla's breath, so it's actually a welcome return for me after decades of it being a beam.

It does sound cool. I myself am in the camp of Godzilla's breath being a beam (EXPLOSIONS), but it has been a long time since it was some kind of gaseous flame.

What matters the most is that it's gotta look hella damn good on film.

I thought with modern Spfx his breath could be molten looking almost liquid like but not as heavy where the central portion is white hot and when it expands a little becomes more blue. I've also thought that the heat would vaporize all the dust particles in the air surrounding it with red embers. Lastly I think it would add even more danger to people if the beam were to pass overhead people would suffer exposure burns and briefly experience suffocation as the heat sucks the oxygen right out of the air.

Discuss spoiled stuff? Okay....

I bought these tomatoes last week, they were supposed to last a while, but they went bad and I had to throw them out. What's up with that?

I'm guessing the classic Godzilla ending that's been mentioned several times involves Godzilla and the mutos tumbling into the ocean, a gigantic, frothy fountain of horribleness in the water and then Godzilla rises, and walks off like a boss.

I was intrigued that the early script draft uses frozen fossils found in Siberia as a plot point. That would seem a nod to the Fleischer Superman cartoon "The Arctic Giant" from 1942 wherein a "Tyrannosaurus" is found frozen in Siberia and brought back to Metropolis where it is accidentally thawed so that it then rampages through the city until subdued by Superman. That monster is a proto-kaiju, not a tyrannosaur, green-skinned with dorsal plates, and this animated short surely influenced movies from "The Beast from 20K Fathoms" and the original "Godzilla" through to "Pacific Rim" (first kaiju assault on San Francisco).

At a little over 8 minutes, it is worth viewing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5M1A_OQaaM

I would be fascinated with how the frozen "Jira" appears if made clear in the script draft, and would expect that one might see a creature with possibly more regular dorsal plates, like the "maple leaf" back plates employed in the Heisei era suit designs. Since the script's living Godzilla survives several exposures to nuclear detonations, he should look different—ravaged, with more jagged spines, and show some signs of having been scarred and changed by the blasts. The modern incarnations of the Muto insects may also then be changed from their ancestors through radiation exposure if scientists hatch the preserved egg in the Japanese nuclear power plant. I am curious as to whether radiation is meant to be natural to the life cycles of the fossilized creatures, or an addition to their lives wrought by mankind's interference, which then would change the balance of nature thus putting the blame square on the shoulders of our species?

Waitaminute.

So the Nagasaki bomb creates Godzilla and the '50s American nuclear tests in the Pacific were to - yes, test the weapons - but also hopefully kill Godzilla and cover up the 'dirty little secret' of his existence?

It all sounds so beautiful. Ugh MUST SEE. Snowdenzilla my thirst for spoilers is damn near capped by you. That's never happened before. :P

So one of the Mutos hatches from the ice, looks like my previous guess was way off. The cloning and all.

The more I talk it out, the more I love how they're making an honest to god GODZILLA movie and not really even doing the "bold new remake" thing as much as just taking the character seriously, going with a storyline that is VERY much within the scope and tone of the franchise--- and then showing us (FINALLY) what that looks like done with modern visual effects and great art direction.

Right- no cloning. They find the Jira carcass along with the petrified remains if two Mutos that it had been battling. Inside if the carcass are two eggs.
