It's great. This series became legendary when shown in spanish TV in 1978, it's a pity it has never been released in DVD over here :( . At least it seems you lucky guys will have a nice release :)

I was worried this would never come out. This is good news for sure. No more crab sticks and cockhorses for me.

Finally we have a date since the initial news broke a year ago. :). Its cool they offer the series in 2 sets, not a bunch of individual discs. Now I can fially ditch my "crabstick" subs and get a licensed set 8).

Neither Tranzor Z, or the Hawaiian "Mazinger Z" ever dubbed all 92 episodes (I think the Hawaiian did more than Tranzor, but dont know for sure), besides video elements for both of those are severly poor. Too bad Sony didn't take good care of their Tranzor Z master tapes, even severly edited & with only about 1/2 he episodes, it would have been fun to have on DVD for nostalgia take.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

Preorder for Mazinger Z is up on RightStuf, where if you preorder there, you can get it 2 or 3 weeks in advance:

I would so be on this set if they were being released on blu ray. I refuse to buy DVDs anymore since it seems they get released on BR a week after I buy them on DVD.

Mazinger Z was first on Japanese Television just over 40 years ago, there would really be no benefit to releasing it on BRD. It hasn't even had a BRD release in Japan. Blu-Rays in general in Japan are extremely expensive (50-70 for a single movie) and for obvious reasons don't sell well. A small cmpany like Eastern Star/Discotek would not have the resources for such an undertaking.

I still readily purchase standard DVD's, and only purchase Blu Rays of contemporary wide release films, or films on BRD I don't already have on DVD. Godzilla films are the only double-dip exception I am making.
