Strangely I've always overlooked Guy Davis' The Marquis. But just picked up the TPB "Inferno". Crazy good art. Decent story.

Has anyone picked up a new Vertigo issue in the last week or two? I had heard people complaining about the advertising in the new Sandman, but i wasn't sure what they were talking about since i wasn't reading it... then today I picked up issue 5 of The Wake, and it has so many ads breaking up the story that i felt like it must have been some kind of misprint!! It was terribly distracting and didn't drop the price of the issue... Wtf Vertigo? is this happening with other titles? Seriously issue 5 had more ads splitting up the action than the previous issues had total! why wouldnt they put them at the end or something!

Been reading a lot of comics lately (bought a lot of hardcovers and omnibuses from cyber monday sales)...

anyway I just finished the second definitive collection of Ed Brubaker's Criminal which i enjoyed quite a bit. It includes "Bad Night", "The Sinners" and "The Last of the Innocent".. and well i think Brubaker saved the best for last because i liked "The Last of the Innocent" more than "Coward"! For those unfamiliar with Criminal, its a lot like Frank Miller's Sin City, except it is more grounded in reality. no super stylized violence and characters, just gritty well written drama/noir.

I started Ed Brubaker's "Sleeper" and so far it hasn't drawn me in as much as "Fatale" or "Criminal"... its more of a deconstructed super hero story, so we'll see where it goes.

I used to read comics, but I haven't up to date with them since 2010. My favorite comic book shop in Towson, MD moved a half hour away from my house and the one in Columbia kinda sucks since no one does anything in there other then play Warhammer or Magic. As you can tell from my username, I'm a fan of Spawn. I loved Spawn up to issue #184 when they killed off Al. Al is one of my childhood characters and killing off with a boring character that is not very fun to begin with made me mad. I stop reading Spawn after Issue #200 because I didn't like the new direction that the story was going for. Also the whole thing with Al and Jim hardly made any sense to me.

Hmmm another Marylander. We're starting to give the Ohions a run for there money :)
I never got into Spawn but i had a good friend who was a big fan that dropped the series at the same spot. I am sure they figured out a way to retcon it by now, but thats why i have a hard time with ongoing superhero titles... Anyway i think there is a comic shop right off Snowdin River Drive, but its been a couple years since that was my stomping grounds.

Its weird how many Ohioans are on this forum, yet I don't think I've ever met a real (as in posts on forums/goes to conventions/buys figures) Ohio Godzilla fan here outside of conventions.

So, he's just Donald Duck. Not Duck Dodgers.

Daffy Duck is Duck Dodgers. They work for rival companies.

I know that I still watch looney toons...Not that I don't find it young and repulsive. I am more mature than watching kids shows.

Kids show, show for adults - I don't care, as long as they're good. As an adult I've gone back to most of the stuff I loved as a kid and had to make up my mind as to what's actually good (nostalgia only goes so far with me!). I found that the Looney Tunes were funnier and smarter than I could even understand as a kid.

BTW, I got the first American Splendor collection this Christmas. There's a comic I've been meaning to read for forever.

Picked up the last couple of Indestructible Hulks, The Flash, new Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Star Wars Issue #0.
The Indestructible Hulk annual was pretty good.
