I've been thinking. Just because it's M.U.T.O. Research doesn't mean it's an organization...

Someone posted the same Godzilla poster on FB. On my phone so I can't link, but I think the tag line is "the world ends, Godzilla rises"

Was hoping someone could confirm as the only Japanese I know is.. Well Godzilla.

Maybe a studio Ghibli film is slated for the month if May and they want to give it some space.

I still think an overt connection to GOJIRA is unlikely. 1954 as a bit of a nod to fans? Sure. An admission that the film Gojira exists in the universe of this film? I'm still extremely skeptical.

Well as long as we're just spit-balling, could the bomb in the trailer be, y'know, the Oxygen Destroyer?

Either Serizawa (Watanabe) resurrecting his ancestor's legacy? Or just making an OD for the first time in an homage to 1954?

Also, given what we've heard of the MUTO's so far (either arachnids or crustaceans), could they be, in fact, Destroyah?

Again, just spit-ballin'. Carry on.

I really like those ideas, Gojiraknight! Maybe this movie has more plot points drawn from Gojira than we were initially anticipating?

If they are some kind of combiner creature, that would be an interesting idea. It'd be something out of Beast Wars. Or maybe they are all part of a swarm of creatures being lead by a larger creature, not unlike the Legion Mother concept from Gamera. Good times ahead.

Oh yeah and Japan has mixed reactions about this, making huge stupid assumptions (not unlike some people on this board).

"It ain't real Godzilla unless its got tokusatsu style effects"
"American Military gonna kill Godzilla"

All that kinda crap.

For some reason Ken Watanabe is hated in Japan too. What, did they forget him in Tampopo? That was an amazing movie!

Yeah, some of comments are interesting. I can't say I blame them after GINO, but Mothra is one of the last monsters I'd want to see again.

One complaint I've read on numerous sites is that his roar is screwed up, and I have to agree. How can it be so hard to get that right?

Count me as one who thinks the trailer isn't good or bad. It's certainly far below that teaser with the Oppenheimer narration, but it gives a sense of the seriousness of the project. I do hope that too much time isn't devoted to the halo jump. Is that supposed to be exciting? Didn't do anything for me in the teaser.

Reading comments on general news sites like MSN and Yahoo have been running about 75-80% positive and that's what we want. Sure you get the odd, oh another remake or another GINO but the message seems to have gotten through that this is a serious movie.

Also a LOT of Cranston is in this or Look Walter White, I gotta see this now comments as well and again, is what we want.
