For as much crap as everyone gives Fox, I think they're being really smart with the X-Men films right now.
First Class had to deal with the monumental disappointments of both X3 and Origins and The Wolverine had the stigma of being the second spinoff film after Origins. Fox isn't panicking and I think it'll ultimately pay off. I think audiences will be much more on-board for Days of Future Past as long as it's good.

Yes, Bryan Cranston lends this picture street cred, and he has some mainstream recognition.

But the name value I was referring to was Godzilla. That's a definable, recognizable brand with 60 years of history (good and bad) behind it, which is something Pacific Rim, however good a movie it may have been, simply couldn't muster.

But as "The Lone Ranger" proved, your movie still has to have appeal beyond name value. Which, again, I trust "Godzilla" will.

I think you guys are overvaluing the name Godzilla.

I don't think it's as big as Batman, for example...

The entire cast of Godzilla feels more like an indie film and for me that is the biggest appeal, but you also have some well known actors.

I'm super stoked for this film, especially given how Cranston described the movie having strong emotional scenes.

Is it safe to assume Cranston will be the one doing most of the promotion??

News is spreading on that universe g interview it seems. But as long as its relegated to IMAX educational theatres it can't be so bad. He said 40 mins I think. Midora obviously comes from the Japanese word for green, midori ( also great to mix with long islands for a Tokyo tea). Plot sounds kind of hokey with the green monster though but maybe he's made by enviro engineers like biollante? Sounds like hedorah could use help from deathala... At the end of the 71 film they said a larger one could be somewhere in the universe.

Who the hell is Universe G? And how did they get this interview. I'm skeptical as to who they are, since I didn't see anywhere on their page as to who they are or what they do.

How did they get an interview with Banno, but not SciFi Japan?

Who knows what will happen. I'm a sucker for anything Godzilla but I'd still rather see other movies made if they are going to invest the time. I also hate the idea of a "green" monster.
