I'm kinda with Godzilla 2000. I don't know if it's a fake, but it looks off enough to question its legitimacy. It definitely uses the previous, leaked art, but is it real? I don't know. Seems way too awful of a photoshop to let slide. If it is real, perhaps it's unfinished?

Based on all of the other peaks including the footage from the ComicCon, I'd say that this is pretty close to what we'll see. Whether it's legit or not... unsure. I'd be willing to bet that it's either just crappy-but-legit photoshop art for pre-release advertisers ...OR it's a sort of "here's what the artwork for your product will more or less look like" yet it isn't actually the final, finished look of GARzilla.

It annoys me that we've been concerning ourselves with rather trivial stuff when actual interesting news has come to light recently:

-The cinematographer revealing scenes set in 1954 (and his fascinating use of vintage lenses and such to give an authentic period feel)

-That interview (I think) with the stars where they reveal a great deal of the shots of Godzilla occur from a human point of view: through windows, up from street level, ect.

That second part really interests me because it's the same approach Tsuburaya often had in the earlier films, and those shots of Godzilla and other kaiju often stand out as the best in the genre.

The 1954 talk has given much rise to debate if the movie is a continuation from Gojira. At first I thought that was crazy talk, but now that I think about it, it isn't completely out of the realm of possibility.

I mean, the most logical reason for them filming something in 1954 is...

* Detonation of an atomic bomb that creates Godzilla
* Old footage from that era shown that Godzilla has existed since then
* Steal underpants

Continuity from Gojira is probably a long shot, but who knows. I also have a feeling that Takarada's cameo takes place in Airport scene. It looks like that is where that picture was taken with him and Edwards.

I'd be really surprised with continuity from Gojira. Even if Takarad plays a character called Ogata and they show Godzilla existing in 1954 I'd be skeptical of it being a Gojira sequel unless they specifically state the conclusion of Gojira, otherwise I consider it just a neat bit of fan service

From the advertising so far it seems Godzilla is associated with Japan. That could be just advertising meant to assuage the perceived cultural disrespect of GINO, but it seems to be a part of the film. If in this film Godzilla initially appeared in Japan in 1954 then that makes sense to me. Godzilla would be a huge event, culturally, for Japan, and thus Godzilla would be closely associated with the country.

If it was a present day origin and Godzilla just first appears in Japan before going to the US for the main portion of the film, well, I don't think the Japanese identity would be as strong.

Well, 3 weeks until The Hobbit is released. Anyone care to guess if they think we'll get an OFFICIAL announcement of the Godzilla trailer being attached days or a week before the movie is released?

We've been mocking that one pretty mercilessly on the SciFi Japan Facebook group. The caprices of this fanbase, I tell you...

I hope WB/LP doesn't release a single trailer now. God that would make me happy.

Still that little puke will be there opening day. What an empty pissy eyed little threat.
