I think a colored ray is pretty iconic for the character. GINO kind of did this "heat wave" thing in 1998 already.

Did not try to start a controversy, I do want a color to the breath, perhaps more apparent at night time, less so in the daytime. I just was exploring the idea that looking through the beam would distort the background, it could have a colored hue to it but there is also fire like ethanol that burns with no color which is scary when you see someone in auto racing rolling on the ground and no flames are evident.

Blue breath or GTFO.

After GINO, it's pretty fair to say that everybody will be expecting nothing other than classic, opaque, blue breath.

I am interested in how it will be portrayed. I am gonna put in my prediction that they go for the gaseous/misty style from '54, something that's more combustible rather than "beam-BOOM" that the latter movies gave him.

Ya sorry, that was my doing on the other forum about the atomic breath. I'll go into more detail...

If I were charged of making Godzilla as realistic as possible and then had to tackle the fact that this 300+ Foot animal had to breath some sort of fire I would do this...

I would make his Atomic Breath literally just that, a really intense wave of heat that comes out of his mouth like a nuclear vent. It would transparent but anything behind it would be distorted. (Like jet exhaust or heat waves off in the distance on a highway) Then I would give it the blue/orange tint. Anything that his breath would touch would instantly be immolated where there is NO chance of survival if you are caught in it. This way he still has the trait and it isn't him just shooting out fire like some cliche fantasy dragon.

Of course the easy thing to do is to use what has always been used. However you can argue in the first two movies, it has misty/breath quality to it. Then it has evolved from a blue blow torch to death star beams in later movies. It was just a guess at how it might be presented in the movie. I can't imagine it won't be in the movie since it is such a staple of Godzilla and it would be an asterisk on the movie if they don't put it in.

(I tried to Photoshop what I was talking about to the best of my ability aka 5 minutes of work)

Not exactly what I had in mind but you get the idea. I would want it to pop a little more or a little bit more glowing and maybe emphasis the heat wave more.

If it were a more solid color I'd like it to almost have a molten quality where it expands from the center white hot and the color changes as it expands from the center and from the source.

Hell, just give me a proper atomic breath that is not used for every purpose and I'll be fine. Make it something that takes time to replenish, like the acid spewing in Pacific Rim...if it was done heisei style they would have done EMP blasts and acid shooting till everything was gone.

I want is sparingly used but if for nothing else to bring maximum impact....... "FINISH HIM!!!" "FATALITY"

Actually, I'm kinda hoping that his atomic breath looks something similar to this. (smoke effect and all) This is probably my favorite shot of his atomic breath simply because it looked so natural and realistic coming out of his mouth.

I like your wording better Jorzilla.

Ya I just figured since he is a walking nuclear reactor and radiation is colorless etc etc, his mouth would be the vent for it. I dunno.

If they put in the same old Godzilla breath we are used to, I am more than happy with that.

I suppose I stand corrected. I just never analyzed it in such detail to be able to pick such nits. I just always said, "eh, he breathes some lame fireball"

I want a rainbow colored breath. No, hell, I want him to fire and atomic rainbow out of his mouth. An actual atomic rainbow. Whatever and wherever the rainbow hits, Leprechauns appear to smash and wreck things giving the rainbow breath its true power.

Personally, I'm really hoping they go with something very reminiscent of the first few films with the breath. Something very foggy/misty and ethereal that glows an eerie pale blue. And, most importantly, is a source of extreme heat that causes things to burn or melt, rather than just explode. I really loved the melting power line towers, tanks, etc. It's such terrifying imagery of a much slower, more agonizing destruction than just exploding. Especially when you think about the crews inside those tanks... Yikes!!
