I liked the Capt America movie quite a bit and I don't even like the comic character.

Just came back from Thor 2. I didn't expect any deep plot, so for me it was enjoyable, as have been all the Avengers tie-in films. The only minor complaints I have was that Asgard overall seemd to be much lass grand than it was in the first film. The great halls seemed smaller and cramped by comparison. I would have thought they would have duplicated some of the same sets form the first film, but I guess they decided to go slightly different. Also was a bit disappointed that Baldur coudln't have been worked in somehow. Although Sif and the Warriros 3 didn't have much going for them in this film, adding Baldur wouldn't have changed much.

I've heard the Agents of Shield episode on November 19th is supposed to tie into this film somehow. It would be kind of cool/funny if it were Based on the final post-credit scene, but somehow I doubt it.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

It was OK to me. Loki stole it but then I was not a huge fan anyway. I am afraid a lot of these films are going to look the same after awhile.

I really enjoyed it. Structurally, the first Thor movie is far more sound. This one was more fantastical. As a sequel to Thor, where I was hoping they'd do just that, it worked for me. The initial setup is a mess, but once it starts rolling it does a fun job of connecting one fantastic set piece to another. Loki is definitely a hi-light and probably the strongest asset the movie has going for it. Where I think the movie really succeeded was in the battle at the end. It had the right blend of action and humor while not being maliciously destructive. It was the kind of action sequence I think most people wanted to see in the Man of Steel finale. I especially liked the attention they paid to Mjolnir as it continued to return to Thor. Its not the strongest Marvel movie to date, but I feel its respectable. Definitely better than Iron Man 2, and about on par with Captain America.

I wouldn't call the redlettermedia review exactly negative. They say they would "probably recommend", but they also credit the movie for starting Phase 2. I think they had a pretty solid critique of what the movie does right and wrong. Its especially funny how Mike makes a ton of Prometheus references. :)

Saw Thor 2 with the fam today. I liked it. Probably a tad bit more than the first. Glad they showed more of Heimdall also. So now the question is this. What did Loki presumably do with Odin?

It was a good movie. It's fairly standard Marvel/superhero, special-effects fare, but it was pretty well done. It's probably about as good as the first one, but I enjoyed it better. It embraced the crazier aspects of Thor and really ran with it.

The thing is if Marvel Studios keeps churning out movies this standard it will become stale pretty quickly. What I liked about Iron Man 3 was how it was the anti-origin superhero movie. It did some daring things that pissed off fans, but it paid off. The Dark World doesn't have that kind of innovation, but it's still a pretty good time at the movies. When the Marvel Studios flicks do get really, obviously stale I can see people looking at The Dark World as the point things started running together. Until then, enjoy the mayhem. It's still fun.

Shame, but not surprising. The movie works without it, like The Incredible Hulk, but it could've been improved greatly with some of those kept in it.

Saw this yesterday and thought it was just fine. I could point out some things I didn't like, but I can do that with even my most beloved movies. Saw it as a matinee for $6.50 and it was worth every penny. Flaws? Of course, a few. I only bother to see about 3 movies in actual theaters each year and I don't mind this being one of them.

Watch what you think you might enjoy.

...meh.

At some point with this movie, you have to make a decision: "I'm either going to keep track of all the things that don't make sense, are under-explained, are brought up as plot points and dropped and forgotten about just as quickly, and are poorly tackled, or I'm just gonna throw up my arms, stop caring, and enjoy the ride"

I chose the latter, but JUST BARELY. It's JUST BARELY fun enough to be ok. The bad and the good roughly weigh equal...

The Bad:
-The Aether is one of the biggest MacGuffins I think I've ever seen in a film. Seriously...what does it do? How is it used? Why is it considered a "stone" if it's an amorphous cloud of black redness? Why does Thor think he can destroy it? How is it that it's so ridiculously easy for Malekith to take it from Jane? Why can't someone just take it from Malekith the same way? Do they harvest it from his corpse at the end before giving it to The Collector?
-What's the deal with the uber-elf guy? How is he created? Why does he need to "die" to be created? If he's still so ridiculously obedient to the cause, why doesn't Malekith create more of them? Why doesn't Malekith do this to himself? I mean, this thing slaps Mjolnir aside like it's nothing, even HULK couldn't do that! Wouldn't it be nice to have more than one?
-What's the deal with all the mortal/immortal talk? Odin and Loki specifically state in the beginning of the film that they aren't IMMORTAL, that their life-span is something to the tune of 5000 years....but then Odin keeps telling Thor that he can't be with Jane because she's mortal...
-Why does Malekith's face change over the course of the film?
-Why does Selvig take off his pants and act like a maniac?
-Why does a coat hook support Mjolnir?

The Good:
-Loki.
-Scenes with Loki and Thor bantering back and forth.
-A mostly satisfactory climax (kinda rare for these Marvel films).
-Decent pacing.
-Subverted some of my expectations (ie who lived, died...Loki's "betrayal" of Thor...)
-Anthony Hopkins seems a little more into it this time out.
-Loki.
-Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
-Loki's tricks.
-And of course, Loki.
Gills.

I'd rank it about on par with Captain America. Mediocre movie, but still entertaining to watch. Some of your questions did indeed have answers in the film. Also, at the end, The Collector is given one of the infinity gems, not the aether (which I agree was a terrible macguffin).

My biggest issue with this movie was it's predictability. I was never surprised by anything and very little wowed me about it. Loki was pretty much the only character worth watching.

I mean, some of the questions are KINDA answered, but the answers are poor at best.

The Selvig thing specifically, given that there are absolutely NO hints that Loki's possession would result in taking your pants off at random times in Avengers. It's not like Hawkeye rips off his clothes and is like, "ahhhh, that's better"
