The Millennium Godzilla movies look great in hd, it's The Heisei movies that need more work.

Yeah, the Heisei Godzilla BDs look vastly better than the DVDs, but compared to other HD releases, they are definitely weaker in video. Audio is grandiose though. NEvertheless, until we get them released on BD in the US with subtitles, the Toho BDs are the best versions out there.

It would be nice if they would bring 2000 and King Kong vs Godzilla to BD already so I can get rid of the Region 2 DVDs.

The Toho BDs look all right, but the color timing on the TriStar discs is much better, IMO.

I think Sony will put a superior BD but that is just me.

I'm pretty sure Toho knows what the colors of their own movies are supposed to look like. And yes, being dubbed only makes it impossible to enjoy because not only is the voice acting down right atrocious, but it looks like the audio is out of synch.

personally i grew up with all these movies dubbed. It wasn't until DVD came along that subtitles even entered the equation as an option

Jeez, that screengrab is terrifying.

Thank god that Criterion did their magic on Gojira. I doubt Toho could accomplish a job close to that.

For the record, the Toho screenshots are from (compressed) Japanese HD-TV airings, not the Blu-Rays. The BDs wouldn't look nearly as soft as these screencaps, but the colors should be the same.

Another example: KING GHIDORAH (Toho)
