Watched Army of Darkness, completely the Evil Dead trilogy (which is, I guess, now a quadrilogy?). Also watched The Fly (1958) as part of my Halloween viewing. That movie doesn't exactly feel too... um, 'Halloweeny' - but I'll always associate it because I first saw it on AMC's Monsterfest!

You know what I'd like? Schedules of the late '90s - early '00s Monsterfests. That was my introduction to everything horror.

Movies I've watched thus far:

1.) Possession
2.) Evil Dead (2013)
3.) Return of the Living Dead 2
4.) Return of the Living Dead 3
5.) Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon
6.) Return of the Living Dead 4
7.) Monster Brawl
8.) The Faculty
9.) Return of the Living Dead 5

Evil Dead was the only repeat viewing for me, and it was the first time on home video. Possession, Evil Dead, RotLD 3, Behind the Mask, and The Faculty are good/fun. I'd avoid the rest.
Gills.

The Shining - Because it is wonderful, and perfect in nearly every way (to me, anyhow).

I also just watched The Stone Tape. I mean, it's a tv movie from the BBC in 1972, but despite those shortcomings ;) it's still pretty solid. I like the concept a great deal. I was already fond of the Quatermass stuff and this reminds me a lot of that. At least of Quatermass and the Pit. I think the style would have been more jarring had I not been watching classic Doctor Who lately.

In addition to movies, I've been watching an episode of Treehouse of Horror once a day:

1:
Bad Dream House - a cool Amityville parody and has some good moments
Hungry are the Damned - the introduction of Kang and Kodos, and possibly the most memorable installment of the special.
The Raven - I dig it. A cool Simpsonified version of the Poe tale., complete with the poetic wordplays
^Overall, it's a decent start to the Treehouse of Horror series, especially considering where The Simpsons as a whole was at the time. I like that it actually starts inside a treehouse.

2:
Lisa's Dream, The Monkey's Paw - I love the opening scenes in Morocco, which play out almost just like any normal Simpsons episode would at the time.
Bart's Dream, It's a Good Life - Another episode with a great opening. All the stuff with Bart changing Jasper and Snowball is great.
Homer's Dream, Frankenbot - This one has some of my favorite moments, specifically and especially when Burns performs surgery on Homer.
^A great step forward for the Treehouse series, and the framing story is very fun.

3:
Clown without Pity - "Someone set this thing to evil." What a great line, and a great segment. The first signs of Patty's lesbianism (though it's a non-canon episode)
King Homer - i love this. I love all the references and i really love when he tries to climb the Empire State Building.
Dial 'Z' for Zombies - The Simpsons do zombies, and it works wonderfully.
^Another GREAT one. Some of these are regularly quoted and referenced when speaking of The Simpsons in general and not just the Treehouse series.

4:
The Devil and Homer Simpson - Flanders? It's always the person you least suspect. Tons of great parts.
Terror at 5-1/2 Feet - The Simpons do (or did) Twilight Zone parodies flawlessly
Bart Simpson's Dracula - Another regularly quoted segment. "Oh Lisa, you and your stories...Bart is a vampire, beer kills brain cells..."
^The last episode with a framing story, and it's quite a cool one, referencing Night Gallery.

5:
The Shinning - No TV and no beer make Homer...something, something. Love it.
Time and Punishment - I love the whole thing, but I REALLY love the beginning with the toaster.
Nightmare Cafeteria - I like how dismissive Marge is "I won't fight your battles for you...march back to that school and say 'dont eat me'"
^Yet another episode with several great moments and memorable stories and lines

6:
Attack of the 50 ft. Eyesores - Homer has a lot of great moments in this segment. "He came to life, good for him."
Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace - It takes a while for The Simpsons to attempt to tackle any of the major slashers (though I guess they did do Chucky sorta), and it's a great parody.
Homer3 - It's more about the novelty of style, but there are some great lines too, especially in the opening
^I remember seeing this one and being blown away at the time by the uniqueness of it all. Love the Freddy part.

7:
The Thing and I - A lot of funny one-liners that could go undernoticed "Check every place a maniac could be...I'll start with Radio Shack".
The Genesis Tub - In the first segment, Bart is the evil twin, here, he's the devil. This is a cool one.
Citizen Kang - It certainly feels a little bit dated these days, but since I remember the election, it's still funny and still works for me
^The first cracks start to appear in the Treehouse series...not that there's anything particularly bad, it's just not stellar from end to end.

8:
The Homega Man - Anything Homer-centric is usually great and this really is no exception. I also love all the French jokes in the beginning.
Fly vs. Fly - I really need to see the original Fly movies, as everything else fly related I've seen, I've enjoyed. I love all the stuff with Homer misusing the pods.
Easy Bake Coven - ehhh...it has its moments, but overall, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't work perfectly
^Hard to be overly negative or anything, because it's still great, but Easy Bake Coven was probably the first time I can remember one of these segments leaving me feeling a little empty.
Gills.

I've just been catching up on Hemlock Grove and the show gets weirder as it progresses. I wonder if the book is equally insane. Tonight I'll probably watch Piranha 3D in 3D for the first time then watch an episode or two of Hemlock Grove.

Simpsons Treehouse of Horror 9:
Hell Toupee - Has some really funny parts and is a good way to kick off an episode.
The Terror of Tiny Toon - A lot of fun, since we all love Itchy and Scratchy and they hadn't really been featured in a Halloween special to date.
Starship Poopers - To me, this is the first segment that's not good. It has a couple moments here and there, but the Jerry Spring stuff feels ridiculously dated, and the Ken Starr joke at the end is just the moldy old cherry on top.
^overall, this is a solid entry, but might have felt even better had the order of things been switched around. The Terror of Tiny Toon could have been a good episode to end on. It's not surprising that the Halloween series starts to dip at this point. I still loved the Simpsons through season 12, but even in the few seasons before that, it was losing some of its luster.

Secret Window
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Superior 70s version)
I love this movie, the lady argued it was too scifi to fit into our typical Halloween viewings, but I just wanted an excuse to show it to her.

My list thus far:
1.) Possession
2.) Evil Dead (2013)
3.) Return of the Living Dead 2
4.) Return of the Living Dead 3
5.) Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon
6.) Return of the Living Dead 4
7.) Monster Brawl
8.) The Faculty
9.) Return of the Living Dead 5
10.) The Howling 2
11.) The Howling 3
12.) The Howling 4
13.) Severance
14.) Bride of Re-Animator
15.) Halloween H20
and 9 Treehouse of Horror episodes

So, it's been a mixture of good, great, surprisingly good, bad, terrible, horrible, surprisingly bad.
I'd recommend Possession, Evil Dead, Return of the Living Dead 3, Behind the Mask, The Faculty, Severance, and Bride of Re-Animator. I personally have fun with Howling 2. The rest, I'd avoid. I had some fun with Howling 3, but I was in a mood. I doub't I'd enjoy it again. The rest were awful.

Finished off Hemlock Grove that was a decent show, pretty messed up though especially the last episode. I think it was the weirdest of the entire series.

Simpsons Treehouse of Horror X

I Know What You Diddily-Iddily-Did - I rather like this one. A lot of good lines, and fun to see them simultaneously take on I Know What You Did Last Summer and a werewolf story.
Desperately Xeeking Xena - Eh...It's OKAY, but unspectacular. Some really funny stuff, some stuff that just misses the mark.
Life's a Glitch, Then You Die - Talk about something feeling dated. Remember when people were worried about Y2K? It's got some decent moments, but it falls a little flat.
^Overall, it's not a bad Treehouse Episode. But it's not particularly good.

Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XI

G-g-g-ghost Dad - Pretty funny, overall. I like how Ghost Homer dies from eating broccoli.
Scary Tales Can Come True - meh. A little too rushed to work all that well, might have played better as a single episode, with The Simpsons riffing on various fairy tales over the course of a full episode.
Night of the Dolphin - I'm not terribly familiar with the treehouses after this, but this might be the last truly great segment in the Treehouse series.
^This is overall a really good episode. Scary Tales misses the mark a little, but the last segment is so good, it really leaves you feeling satisfied.

12. Twilight Zone The Movie (1983)

Today I watched
13. Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
14. Beetlejuice (1988)
15. The Devil Rides Out (1967)

Beetlejuice is still Beetlejuice, but Bram Stoker's Dracula is kind of awful. I mean, I remember it being somewhat cringeworthy at moments the last time I watched it in HS, but bleah. I realize I'm in a minority, but I just don't really care for it, I'd rather watch Horror of Dracula, Dracula, Nosferatu (either version).

THE DEVIL RIDES OUT is GREAT!
I love seeing Christopher Lee in a heroic role, the story and the effects and the score were great. I also loved Charles Grey as Mocata. A wonderful villain and a really solid film.
