New here! Couple quick questions!

Postby The Radness » Tue Oct 08, 2013 2:32 pm

Hey all!

New to the site, and to collecting in general.
I've always been a huge fan of the godzilla franchise, and over the last few years I've aquired a couple kids.
Being a bit younger I still enjoyed some things that were obviously not ok for kids, so over the years certain things have phased out (Rated R movies) and certain things have come about (a family wide love for everything godzilla!)

Randomly walking through K-mart one day and checked the toy aisle out with my daughter to find Godzilla toys! The straight up 6.5 Bandai Vinyls. Only a couple on the shelf that day, but we had to buy them.

Checking every few weeks now over the last couple of years and I've been suprised to see them bring more in!

it's been about 6 months though since anything new came in (or atleast new for my collection) and now I'm looking to branch out and pick up a good 5-6 new ones for the Christmas season, as well as make a model city for the purpose of destruction.

Just curious if you guys know of anywhere to look to find some of these more obscure toys besides Ebay/amazon.
Wanting to snag Space Godzilla, Orga, Desotroyah and anything else I can get ahold of! Basically anyone in the Save the earth game as my daughter plays and loves it.

Here's a pic of what I got, pretty stoked that I've managed to pick up all these from the same store for 10 a pop, there's still a fusion gigan there that I'd purchase in a heart beat to trade away! Not much of a fan of the fusion.

Any help or knowledge would be awesome, still new to this stuff!

Really only interested in the basic 6.5ish Vinyls, as i don't have the money to invest in some of the more expensive stuff.

I'm pretty sure Orga hasn't been released by Bandai creation which is what the American Bandai figures are called. The only stores I know that sell them are Toys R Us; you might be able to find a specilty store in your area that sells them. Other than that the web is your best bet.

Welcome to the forums! :D

To answer your question, the only way that you will get what you want is via the internet. Stores do seem to sell Bandai Figures (though to be honest, even that's decreased over the past few years). But yeah, as I said, the only way to get what you want is through the Internet. That might change a little bit, due to the movie, but I would not hold your breath.

Any websites you would suggest besides amazon/ebay?

The few comparisons I have made seem like the price difference isn't that much, just finding them in stock is the hard part.

I live in the middle of Idaho, no specialty stores at all, closest Toys R us is 2 hours away, cousin lives near it though and is supposed to swing in and check for me. Also another K-mart in the next town over that I think I'm going to check.

Luckily some of the smaller chains (did you ever run into a Hastings book store?) are starting to pick up some cool toys, they have a SH Mecha G in one, no price on it though.

I check there every now and then but it seems prices range from 30 to 50 percent more then online for the most part.

What Tom said, My friendly local comic shop stocks them (and also gets the more expensive SH Monsterarts series)

There were also domestic releases of Destoroyah, Spacegodzilla, King Seesar and Kiryu (Millenium series Mechagodzilla) that you might be able to find

You probably won't have much luck with Orga, pretty under represented in Japan as well, but online is really the best place to find most things Godzilla related

Curious as to why you won't shop at Amazon they're usually fairly resonably on prices and stuff. I'd recommend them over any other e-tailer since they're cheaper and offer free shipping couple that with Amazon Prime and you can get your stuff really fast.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

We'll probably see an influx of new Godzilla toys from Bandai on both sides of the ocean in all sorts of budget ranges next year.

The new stuff from Bandai America are King Ceasar and Little Godzilla as part of the 6.5 Vinyl figures, and the Chibi Collection figures featuring Godzilla, Gigan, Mothra, Mechagodzilla 93, Destoroyah, and King Ghidorah

and NYCC is this weekend. We might find out more on the 2014 toyline. Nice to have you aboard.

Oh I wouldn't say I was against purchasing on amazon really, just curious what other options were out there. I'm sure amazon will be the route I end up taking.

Gonna keep tuned in to see what ends up coming around. REALLY hoping for an influx once the new movie starts doing more press.

Does anyone know of a kumonga toy that was ever made in similar scale to the standard bandai? Kid's favorite character by far (maybe tied with baragon and mothra larva).

In other news, my cousin managed to swing by toysrus for me, and we've got a new addition to the collection!

Looking at the pics it looks like a 12" Final Wars?. Pretty stoked just to find something new.
Going to try the other local K-mart this weekend.

You're best (only?) bet is the Y-MSF Kumonga
One of the posters around here did a video review of it http://youtu.be/y-lbkwlzcQU (jump to 1:10 for comparison shot)

Going to keep a look out for the kumonga, though I have a feeling it'll be a bit more then I'm ever willing to spend.

Going to get a 12" mecha to match Godzilla, as well as an anguras and King Ceaser.
Prob call it good on the godzilla christmas, unless I purchse those soon, then I'll get the itch a month from now to buy more and we'll end up with 13 new figures.
