The eyes look pretty similar in this picture from G Encounter -

And I think it's pretty menacing. :)

@XVGojira - the enlarged teeth makes the design look like an updated Heisei Goji.

Godzilla's got crosshair pupils? That should help with his ray breath aim.

I do kind of wish the eyes were a little bigger, but I'm still fine with this though.

I actually think the teeth make more sense this way. They might be eroded by the use of his nuclear breath.

What I find most interesting is the different skin types/textures, as if borrowed from many different kinds of animals. Could he be some sort of chimera?

I really hope they don't spend a lot of time trying to explain Godzilla's origins. The original film had the perfect amount of origin, and I hope that the same approach is used in this film.

^the quarter second of the fins we saw from more or less the shoulders up in the Godzilla Encounter of a non-finalized design with shaky-cam footage from inside someone's backpack is hardly a good judge of the fin design.

I'm satisfied with it, it's not my favorite design ever, it doesn't make me go "wow", but it's recognizable as Godzilla so I'm happy enough. I do like that he has a gentle and intelligent, almost human look to him; feels like it harkens back to the late '60s/'70s "hero" version of the character in that sense, which is cool.

Most important now will be how he's portrayed in the movie, as well as the overall quality of the film itself of course. If they nail it (something I'm definitely not taking for granted), that would be what made me really appreciate this incarnation of the big G.

People can love it or hate it, doesn't matter to me nor affect my preference. People just gotta let people do their thing. Sure certain detractors have said things that make me go WTF are you even looking at, but like every design it will not please all. So long as it pleases many (especially casual or non fans) that's the key. We as fans are used to imperfect Godzilla designs....>THEY ALL ARE!!! There is no "perfect" design, never has been never will be. Sure there are ones that are favorites over others but no perfect Godzilla exists and to me that's kind of the charm.

So let's stop fussing about the look because in the end, if this is the final design and he is in a killer story and kicks major ass, then it really doesn't matter.
You must show no mercy, nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you... for your greatness will silence them all!

After 50 years of designs, at this point everyone has their own definitive Godzilla. The point is even though I don't like the Mire-Goji, for example, it's still recognizable as Godzilla. I was happy it didn't look like GINO and it had the same shape, form and features expected of Godzilla. I would expect that same level headed approach from most fans-- liking the design or not.

I really like the Bio-Goji, but when did it become the be all, end all of Godzilla designs? It's not even my favorite Heisei suit.
